Had to sell my DTA this spring, worked a bunch of overtime this summer and had Stacey hook me up with an AIAX in 308. One very fine rifle, still getting used to the non-bullpup design that I really liked and it fit me well. Have only been able to put about 200 rounds through it, but so far loving it. Did I need an AW prolly not, an Ae would have done the job. But now I have no room to second guess my decision. I couldnt afford the can right off the bat, but hope to have one in the spring. If you go the AI route Stacey at mile high is great to do business with, he was patient and answered all my dumb questions.

Oh, I don't know, you might have to convince me you will treat the AE MKIII nicely, take it out for weekend shoots, keep it clean and not talk SHIT about it........

But seriously, now with the AE MKIII upgrades, it is truly an outstanding addition to anyones collection. Have a great weekend to all.

I find it interesting that 90% of the people that say you are waisting money on AE have never actually owned one. Do you need one to be competative, no? Does it make it easier, yup.

Are they worth it? Yes. I have been through everything else and have no desire to try anything different. If i would have started with an AI, I would have saved a lot of money.

All I know is that I sent my bolt to a Smith to have the pin hole sleaved (long story) and he sent it back because the material was to hard to drill with a carbide bit. He said it was the only manufacturer that he had ever seen that he couldn't get through and he does thousands a year.

I am pretty sure my action has mill marks on it, too. Either way, it has been perfect and I am shitty to my rifles. Clean...why, oil...once in a blue moon. I have dirt and dust from Kentucky, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri on my bolt and in my action. I have run it in freezing rain and snow, 2 degrees below to well into the hundreds.

Smooth as butter and accurate as hell. I have been through four barrels and am getting ready to screw on another. A standard AW cut headspaces perfectly. 15 minutes and its ready to go.

The biggest downside is that it is so smooth, I can't tell the difference between chambering a round and closing the bolt on an empty mag...did i say it is smooth.

If you like the AicS, you will love an AE.

Thats awesome.

I didn't get the notion people were saying it's a waste of money. I certainly don't think so but i believe in buying what you want/like, end of story.

Yes the Viper Skins will bolt on but they are currently not offered for the rifle systems. The right side will have the cut out for the bolt lug but soon they will be offered for the AE/AW systems. So solution for your issue will be available prior to the end of the year.

Yes.

As Stacey mentioned, there will be a gap around the bolt handle cut until Victor Company gets done with the AE/AW specific skins. Honestly it's easy to forget the cutout is there if you are really set on getting them now.

I just ordered my first AW from Stacey. Yes I bit the bullet and got my balls out of my wife's purse. -just kidding-. I wish I would have done it sooner. I missed an October match because I was doing some speed drills and my 700 bolt was in hand. Although I am on my third barrel. Abused the shit out of the rifle. It still pissed me off enough to spend 2 maybe 3 hours on the phone with Stacey answering all of my questions. Just to get a rifle I should have bought 10 years ago. Thanks Stacey again for all of your help. To answer the post question. Do I believe any of the AI stuff is worth the money? Hell yes! Will it hurt when you buy one? Hell yes! Will you ever regret it? Hell no. The only thing you will regret is not buying one. I know I don't personally own one. I have been around my buddies AW for 10 years. He has never had any drama with that rifle. Just my opinion.

I was under the impression that either a 7 wsm or a .300 wsm = a short action + a barrel change. Do these two rounds fit and feed from existing mags?

+1 he is top notch to deal with (just like the AI rifles :p) he answered tons of my newb / dumb questions without ever getting annoyed with me and remaining completely patient

Please point me in the direction as I'm in the market for one if they're going at those prices.

Well unfortunately for Left Handed shooters you will be waiting I suspect a long while. The AW finally was offered in LH, sold everyone we could get and could use more, but LH guns are a very small number in the big picture and its hard to get them into a manufacturing run when the schedule is filled 6-12 months out for everything else they can make. Will it ever happen, possibly, do I expect it soon or would I wait to buy until then, NO.

As for the WSM setup, its more than a barrel change. These calibers require a magnum bolt head setup which is currently a 6 lug vs the standard bolt head which is a 3 lug. That as well means the lock ring, extractor, barrel and magazine modification is required to make the WSM possible. Do expect these in the near future, no sir not really.

I believe the 50% sales price as compared to purchase price to be a bit misleading. The reality for example, say a customer is selling an AE MKI for $2k, current AE MKIII price is $3600 (full retail). Used gun sure, when the original owner purchased the weapon 3+ years ago or more to be safe, I remember the price being a bit lower as well, not to mention we have sold AE MKI and MKII demo and closeouts this year for some smoking deals as well. As it goes, the AI products always hold their respective value longer and better than most any system on the market + there is always a demand for them as well. You would think as soon as the AX .338 was announced the AWSM .338 sales would plummet and just dry up. On the contrary, the customers which have always wanted the AWSM .338 Legacy model, simply stepped up and purchased what they always wanted, could get due to limited availability and in some cases bought a second one!

Hmm, That's interesting about the Nesika and the galling.

I noticed you really like the Bighorn actions. It would be a tough call for me choosing them or a Surgeon 591.

Never owned a AI. If I get tired of the TRG I just bought AI is next on the list. All I know is I'm a little bored with my M700.
