Army M24 Build Thread

I been following this thread for awhile, can someone post the specs and some build information on the m24a2? Seems like the information on building this rifle is harder to find information on. One of my questions I have did they rebarrel the m24a2 or did they reprofile the existing one?
No idea, I would say that they would have used new barrels.

I just picked up a Badger M24A2 DBM trigger guard, but realized it's model 306-85 for the standard Remington LA BDL footprint. Anyone want to trade or sell their Badger M24A2 trigger guard (model 306-84) specifically for the M24 floorplate footprint? Thanks in advance.

That's great news but I'm afraid the Tenebraex is a bigger, more rare, unicorn than the EMA. Don't give up the search and keep your fingers crossed. What I didn't photograph here is the Bulter Creek style lens cap with the Tenebraex "See not Seen" branded lid.
Just got this off of Evil Bay. A guy out in Arizona had an almost complete deployment kit but I missed out in buying it by a day.

That's a pretty good find and I'm not going to poo poo your fortunate acquisition, however yours is a later version of the original.

This is the original ARD and EMA. Notice the double set of threads, the smaller set thread into the M3a scope directly, the larger threads screw into the EMA

For some reason I can't find a picture of my rifle with both of them attached but here is one of the ARD directly attached to the M3a. You can clearly see the difference is diameters.

EODSIX,

Always nice to see photos of what to look for. The quest will continue! Thanks for the information. Hopefully, it will help others.

Can anyone explain the stock choices for the m24a2, I’ve called hs precision and he said to use the pst013, I’ve also seen plenty of stocks using the pst026. So did they use both? Also which rings do I need for the m24a2? Like to see some details on cloning the m24a2.

Go back to page 6, post 299. The gentleman that helped develop the a2 has all the details. It’s the 013.

Just hit the 100 day mark on my AE M24 can today. Still a few more pieces to go.

Directly from the guy who developed the M24A2 project.

"The M24A2 was developed using the PST013 stock, however there were times when it was not available and we had orders for the A2, subsequently the PST026 was used. Almost all of the A2's used the 013 stock, but a few of the 026's were used"

Still looking for a M24 front sight base. Any help is appreciated! This is the last component I need for my M24 rifle to be completed.

Please reach out if you have any or hear anything.

Your picture didn't show up for me. See below

Ah yes! My barrel has that base and is getting profiled for the AEM M24 as of three weeks ago which means I have no place for it. If you don't find one sooner, shoot me a DM and I'll let you know when I get the rifle and parts back. Looks like it'll fit in an envelope!

I got a barreled m24 action from JFE on GB about a month ago but I don’t know anything about the barrel. Kinda bought it on impulse because it was a decent deal but I’d like to know something about it and JFE won’t respond to my emails. Barrel is unmarked and except what looks to maybe be a proof mark? Is there any way to tell what kind of barrel it is? Surplus?

I ordered one as well. Talked to JFE they are legit unfinished Remington M24’s. When they got them from Remington they were unpainted so they did cerakote them. Although your m24 looks like a factory paint job. Any markings on the left side of the barrel?

Here is a barrel I got from Remington gun repair it has 3 markings on it. The rep was double stamped.

No there is nothing. Even the guys at my LGS were confused with the lack of markings. It will all be refinished anyways when I send it off to be built and contoured for the can. Know anymore details on the barrel?Any idea how they shoot?

OK WEBER, INC. is an American shooting supplies distributor for target & match competition. They did not manufacture the metallic sight system that was used on the M24 after the Redfield Palma/International stopped production. They were the US distributor for a UK manufacturer who built target sights.

M24 FLASH/BLAST SUPPRESSOR NSN 1005-01-442-0166.

These pics show the correct mounting of an early issue M24 flashider on a Redfield front sight base. Later issue flashiders have a different Lock Ring Assy. that is machined for the taller front sight base found on OK Weber equipped rifles. The Army/Air Force 2003 (TM 9-1005-306-10/TO 11W3-5-4-10-1) does not use different part #'s for the lock ring, and this causes problems for owners trying to attach incorrect suppressors.

The $10 chinese airsoft knock-off.

When the M24SWS was issued, enhancements were offered by the US Army. The first was called M24 Sniper Accessory Kit. One of the items was a buttstock cheek pad from Eagle Industries. Eagle still sells it for around $50. I took a chance on the imported copy just to see if I liked it. And I didnt. Had to cut it open to add foam on the left side to get a proper cheek weld. The quality was to be expected. Problems are bolt not having enough room to fully extract, item has to be removed for storage in hard case, sling swivel & buttstock adjustment interference, and stock grip interference. Perfect stowage for cleaning kit or spare cartridges. The original Eagle would be the same.

About to pick up a PST013 stock here soon. I hear a lot about the webbing on the stock. Get it, don’t get, sand it off, yada yada yada. When I asked the gentleman at HS Precision about it he was kinda dumbfounded I would even consider getting it without the webbing. I’ve seen both throughout this thread and I thought the issued stocks had the webbing. What’s everyone’s $.02 on this? Thanks.

Get it with the webbing. You can always sand it if you want. Not the other way around. It give the stock grip

I say without. Factory texture w/o webbing is just as good as with webbing. You wont be able to match it with sanding.

Would anyone know where to locate the screws for a ok Weber front sight post and rear? I have one screw I believe them to be the exact same for both. I know the pitch is 6:48 national thread, just seeing if anyone has 3 laying around I could purchase or a link to buy them?

After many years of collecting, I'm so close to the finish line I can taste it. In an effort to have initial issue to end of service, I've managed to track down most everything I can think of.
Black rifle: M24R barreled action, late large logo/no shelf surplus stock with SunnyHill bottom metal, OKW bases and a complete surplus optics set.
Painted rifle: surplus US stamped early C prefix (FOIA shows 5th SFG from start to finish), early small logo/shelf stock, Dakota bottom metal and correct Rem/Red bases. Optics set is again surplus 1988 Ultra w/matching rings base. Foolishly passed on a barrel, it's the final piece needed to complete this to 100%
Remaining items have been a loooong labor of frustration/love. I have more time in to this collection than I want to think about.

Redfield sight bases & sights. The Palma is not listed here, so it must have been discontinued when these adverts were published.

My specific M24SWS has an "A" marking stamped on the rear face of frt base. I drew an arrow on the page listing the "A Special Front Base, Item No. 723015". The installed height is 0.173" on a 0.954" diameter 5R barrel.

I have an M24 silencer from Ron on Form 4 in MS. Due to some very recent health circumstances, I don't think the build is going to happen on my watch. Therefore, I would like to offer it to the dedicated M24 builders here first.

I paid Ron $750 for it shipped, and in respect to him I'm not going to try to make money on it. My ask is $850 which is my cost and half my transfer fee to move this along. Serious inquiries can email me at dmwjr at comcast dot net.

Found these stamps inside my Hardigg case. Any idea what they mean?

M24 bottom floorplate built by Dakota Arms. They were a Remington Arms subsidiary company before the first bankruptcy. Afterwards, Sunny Hill Enterprises Inc. took over production for Remington M24 floorplates.

Dakota Arms used a 2-piece construction process for their version of the M24 floorplate, with the parts fillet welded together. This required a special Magnaflux inspection process, with a stamped "M" proofmark after certification applied onto the weld joint.

(The Sunny Hill variant was not welded, instead it used 2 allen screws. Apparently this did not require Magnaflux inspection, and would not have the "M" proofmark.)

The main reason an original M24 stock cant be purchased from HS Precision is because of trademark law. The issue stock has REMINGTON™ molded onto the rubber buttpad. Its also thinner than the HS PRECISION buttpad. This has been discussed in earlier posts.

HS Precision changed their numbering system over the years.

Details of an M24 stock:

-Cartridge box mounting screw BDL style, not ADL

-Manufacturing date clock stamp. This example appears to be May 2001

-Handwritten stock code on bedding block (may be the quality inspectors ID#, but it is not the rifle serial # since HSP had no knowledge of the specific gun it would be mounted to)

-Stock comb flat area on forward edge to give clearance for bolt removal on pre-2006 issue.

The M24 fire control (trigger) has been epoxied over the factory adjustment screws for overtravel & pull weight. The trigger engagement screw has been staked into place and probably Loctited.

This is known as "gruntproofing"😳
Most of us remember fiddle-fucking with those adjustment screws back in the old days to get a crisp 7oz pull. Then the lawsuit happened because of a dropped rifle discharging on a hunter. Lawyerproofing is a better term

Not period correct for the M24, but these UID inventory tracking tags look cool as hell. Carolina Laser Works LLC will print whatever info you want, and he has dozens of styles.

Okay, last post for today. Disassembled the trigger, flushed it out with lighter fluid, and removed the trigger adjusting screw & spring. Has a nice 3# pull weight now.
