Bedding completed, updated range report

Recently I posted on a new rig I had picked up and had taken for a test run.

To make a long story short, I finally got the chance to get her tore down and get the bedding done. The rig had come with pillars installed and I bedded her in with Marine-Tex a couple of evenings ago. After letting the bedding set up I put her back together and got her to the range.

Here she is as she sits now, Rem. 700 SPS-V in .308, pillered and glassed McA4, Badger M5, 20 MOA rail and wearing a Bushnell Tactical Elite 3200 5x15 mil-dot in XTR low rings.

Here was the intial 100 yard group shot with Fed GMM 168gr fodder from the bipod and sand sock. Five shot string ran a .765" with a called flyer. Too much coffee before I headed to the range today!

Backed her up to 200 yards, shot the next 5 shot string in a 14 mph cross wind. String ran out at .850" for 5 shots at 200 yards.

Nedless to say, bedding brought her in and I am tickled pink with the results. Think I'll run this one a while before I have another barrel ran in her!

Too much coffee before going to the range is a bitch! Awesome rig, looks like she is a shooter.

I think you are measuring your groups incorrectly. It doesn't look like you've subtracted the diamter of the bullet off those numbers. Groups are measured center to center of the bullet strikes at the largest dimension of the group.

So, your 200 yard group is something more like 0.850" - 0.308" = 0.542".

In reality, the bullet holes are more likely less than .308 on paper, which means that the group is a little more than .542", but using the bullet diameter is a fairly standard practice.

Thanks darren, to answer your question, measured the groups at the extreme spread. Didn't measure them minus the bullet diameter. I have measured both ways before just didn't really know which method was accepted generally as a rule. Thanks for the heads up!
