Im attempting my first bedding job. i read on here that the ejection port should be flush with the stock(scimitars thread). the rem 700 sits low in the medalist stock. to make it flush i tape banded the barrel. i can only get 2 full turns on the action screws in this configuration. any more and it starts to pull the action lower. is that enough for 65 inch lbs? should i just bed it lower? should i try to find longer screws? thx in advance.

ive been doing more and more playing and testing....the problems created by raising the action that much out weigh the flush ejection port, especially the feed issue with the DBM(that was the deal breaker)

unless anyone can give me a good reason not too im gonna bed without a flush ejector port. the rifle ejected fine before this project and it was just a drop in.

thx for reading

The ejection port cut out lining up and and being level mainly a for looks thing, something I definitely do while building a rifle. In your case as you figured out its going to cause more problems than its worth. It may not look as good, but its functional and that's what matters.
