Wanting to start a 300 PRC build for a new hunting rifle. Did some searches but not much on Bergara which may tell me enough...

Initial thoughts:
Bergara B14 Wilderness Ridge $1100
McMillian Game Warden or similar $6-800
Timney Trigger $200
Leupold VX5 or Zeiss Conquest V4 $1,200

After rings etc would put me around $3,500 and should be at or under 10 lbs...

Anyone have any experience with a similar build out? Better suggestions for similar price?

Was also considering Seekins, Fierce, or a Tikka build but Tikka doesn't chamber 300 PRC.

Thanks...

I did a ridge in 6.5 creed, trigger tech, manners MCS T, vx5. Ended up selling the manners because I actually preferred the factory stock. The manners was/ is great but I like the thinner fore grip on the factory stock plus I don't cringe when I throw it around in the truck.

My Rifle is a tack driver and I have no regrets. I've been thinking of the wilderness in 7mm mag or something similar because of how happy I am with my 6.5 Creedmoor. I may one day do a custom build because they are the best you can get but for blasting hogs and whitetails this is good enough for me. Maybe once I have some kids, I'll use them as an excuse for the proof 16" big horn origin build :)

100 yards with Prime 130gr ammo. 3 round group. Atlas cal2. Rear bag Can't complain about this with a factory rifle

I have a Ridge SP ( among other Bergaras) in 308. I am extremely pleased with it. It’s an easy 1/2 MOA and I harvested a doe the first morning I took it out. Great little hunting rifle.

If you’re spending 1100 just for a barreled action I would rather have an origin action with a remage any sort of prefit barrel on it.

825 origin +440 nut barrel=1300 so yes it’s more expensive but you’re left with an action that I wouldn’t make fun of you for behind your back.

why remage and not just a prefit?
Well that too... but that’s usually another 150 bucks or so and idk really why I specified one over the other and with an origin it would be a savage barrel nut, not remage. I can get a nut barrel to my door for 450. Normally a shouldered prefit is 550-600 but I’d you can get in on a pva sale where it’s a shouldered for 450 I’ve done that a couple times too.

I’m really pleased with both. Especially since you can’t do that with a bergara. And for that reason alone I would prefer a normal 300 dollar rem700 action and remage over a bergara. An origin just takes it to the next level.

This is probably more along the lines of what I need to do. With the wait times on stocks and actions I can swing a few extra bucks...
