Re: Best 308 MOA out of the box for your $$$$$
I have personally purchased about 11 700s, and between my friends, probably another 50 rifles, I've yet to see a 2-3 MOA rifle. I think you're exaggerating, bud. Most all the 700s I've dealt with shot MOA or under. So have most of the Savages, besides one particular 270 that shot about 4 MOA with every ammunition we tried.
Last week a buddy and I took his SPS tactical to the range and shot some 168 GMM through it for the first time. The only modification to the rifle is we stuck the H-S take-off from my rifle on it (which had been skim-bedded to MY action). It shot right at .5 MOA. His Savage he used to have shot .75 MOA. Does that make the Savage a turd?
Either way, anecdotal evidence isn't enough to make such a suggestion. There are good and bad from both makers. Overall, you can't suggest a trend.
Buying a stock rifle of any make could be something to throw money at, but Remington is no more than Savage. Most rifles come with shitty triggers, shitty stocks, and so on with some higher-end offerings being the exception.
