Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I was out goose hunting the other day and when we got back to the boat launch, there were a couple old guys just getting back from fishing. When we got about 40 yards away, I could already start to smell the booze on these guys. One of them came over and kept going on and on about how he use to be able to shoot pheasants with his 1911 from 400 yards away. Considering this guy was hammered and looked like someone from the movie Deliverance, I didnt even bother to question his claims.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

The first ever match (Mid range Fclass) I ever shot I was squadded with an odd Gary Busy looking guy. He smelled a bit of booze and was drinking a Gatorade. He was shooting a 300 mag, very shittily I might add. He spouted crazy stuff like 300 mag can not be shout out (barrel that is). Started talking philosophy, the whole nine yards. We jump in our cars to head to the pits, he hits my car with his truck. We get to the pits. He is falling down drunk. He tells me that he is just really tired and diabetic. Turns out his Gatorade was filled with Whiskey. Pretty interesting experience.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Ran in to a certain individual at the range this weekend...third time I've seen him there. Every time it just so happens that he has really accurate guns at home and isn't sure why the ones he has with him won't shoot.

hope you called the cops/turned his ass in/got his ass kicked out of there...

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

One of the main inspectors off of a pipeline job I worked on a few years ago, he found out I was into LR shooting and he was into guns so he would take me out and always want to talk guns. Finally took him shooting up in the mountains at rocks out to a mile or so, just random rock shooting. He wouldn't shoot but would watch me. I was shooting a 260 and told him I though it was impressive for the small round to do so well at that range, he said his friend was ex elite marine sniper and would light matches at 1200 yds. He said, when you can do that, then thats impressive. I told him I though he was exactly right.

That's true; I would be VERY impressed if you (he) could do that.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Years ago I took a fellow employee with me, my son and a couple of other fellows offshore to go fishing. We caught a few fish and the biggest one probably went 20 to 25 pounds and if I remember right we caught six kingfish. This was on a Saturday.
Well Monday morning it was back to work and during the lunch break this fellow was telling everyone about this fishing trip he went on and caught enough fish to almost sink the boat and the biggest one weighed over 50 pounds. Well I was listening at the end of the BS and it dawned on me he was talking about the trip we went on Saturday. It was strange he decided to tell this while I was standing there. I later explained to everybody that was not exactly the full truth.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Was just walking past one of the departments in our company here and overheard a guy saying ".308 is more accurate than .30-06". I just kept walking.

Read this SO MUCH on the hunting forums. .308 is "inherently accurate" compared to the 30-06 blah blah blah.
I remember one guy chimed in to one of these threads saying it was true cuz he has both and the 308 is more accurate than the 06. He then mentioned that the 308 was a heavy barreled target gun and the 06 was a thin barreled hunting rifle....

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Buddy and I were bull shitting at work today about guns... he proceeds to tell me that his .204ruger drops "like 4 inches at 500 yards from a 100 yard zero" And "it can cover a mile in just over a second". I corrected him one the second part, explaining deceleration of the round after it leaves the muzzle. The "4 inches in 500 yards"- well I'm taking him shooting tomorrow. I'll let him figure out that one for himself tomorrow.

- Oh also he's shot 1000 yards once before. Well, he guessed it was about 1000 yards. He aimed at a 20 foot boulder and saw an impact splash. I just ignored it.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Was at the local range on Saturday testing out a few loads. My brother brought his 6 year old son with him and his 22lr for my nephew to shoot. The rnage does not allow 22's at the 100 yard only the 50 yard and less. My brother over heard one RO telling a new RO in traning that 22 were not allowed on the 100 yard range because they cant shoot that far and if they could they would be very inaccurate. It scary out there sometimes.

Had a guy come into my gun shop and argue and i quote word for word" there is no factory weapon that will shoot a one moa group or less at any yardage". I argue with this idiot for a few minutes and then he bets me one thousand dollars i cant do it. I kindly obliged him. We promptly went to the range and i put 8 rounds from my colt combat elite 45 in the same hole... i did this at point blank range just to be a dick to him when i asked him for my thousand bucks he didnt have it( which i figured as much) and after much grumbling and calling me a cheater and cussing me i ended up with a sweet 6.5x284 out of the deal . at 10 foot (further than point blank range) - your group would have had to be less than .0349" CTC to be Sub-MOA. How exactly did you end up with a 6.5x284 out of the deal? I am in no way doubting someone came in and made that statement... the rest of the story sounds like bull shizzle to me...

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

We had this guy at work that said he was in tanks (don't remember what he said his job was). He told us the same story over and over of how they got in the shit and how one of the generals wanted to ride along. He kept bragging how they would go out and use all the ammo then come back and reload and refuel (he also said you could put anything in the gas tank and it would run) and do it over and over again. The best thing was that he said they had a new tank that would fly, not fly as go fast, fly as in a bird, a plane, superman fly. To make it even better, right at the perfect time, an f-15 flew over head. He said "military plane," the guy next to me, out loud, said "nope, its a tank." It took us the last 20 minutes of lunch to quit laughing.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I worked with a guy that said his grandpa used to take a .22 to turkey shoots and he would always win. He would win because he would wait for the turkeys to stick their head up from behind logs and he would shoot them in the head. Also he was gonna need some cast iron heads for his mustang so that when he installed twin turbos on it he didn't want to melt his aluminum heads. I asked what he wanted to do with it and he said that he did the calculation and he needed 535 hp to run 13's in the 1/4 mile.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Not 20 minutes ago I was in *ehem* MalWart... time to repaint the rifle. So I walked up to the counter with khaki, green, and brown in flat. Lady at the cash register asks me what I'm planning on painting. I tell her I'm going to paint one of my hunting rifles. She looks at me and quietly goes "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that... because its illegal to paint a gun." I simply smiled, said thanks for the advice, took my paint and left.

So word to the wise to... probably >75% of everyone on the hide... strip all the paint off your guns... apparently its illegal.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I've run into so many. Some kid saw my 3rd batt sticker on my truck and came by and said rangers lead the way! So I asked were you in oh yea man I was in washington. So I was like oh 2nd batt thats cool do you know so and so of course he didnt know any of them. Anyway i told him yea I was in 3rd in benning his reply was yea I never went to benning lol. Any ranger knows you have to go there to be in ranger batt, its hard to belive how many people like this that you can find lol.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I talked to a guy about fitting a barrel onto my ar that I am building. He told me he couldn't do it because ALL of the spring in the gun would not be right for the barrel that he would put on it. After I called bull shizzle it was 40 minutes of how he build rifles for Navy Seals. I guess if the name of your shop starts with red, you get DOD contracts.

Wouldn't some jobs in RSTB not require a trip to benning? Medics wouldn't have to go either would they? Unless PSOCM and/or SOCMC.... Of course I understand the entire Regt goes to the annual RR- that include everyone in RSTB?

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

At the gun range while looking at a used kimber ulta compact on the display: If you like it you can trade your TRP for it. The store doesn't do trades but we can do employee purchases like a trade , and I'd be willing to do $500 for your new TRP towards that used kimber you are looking at, I said I'm sure you would, I'd do it too , and walked away.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Apparently bullets rise when they leave the barrel. That's why you get the arc on ballistics charts, the bullet rises on it's own. Or so this gentleman (retard) tried to convince me of at a recent wedding reception. By the way, 260 people at this reception...not ONE single woman. Bullshit!

But, I digress. Despite trying for ten minutes to explain it to him, he stubbornly refused to budge. It wasn't sight offset, he said. "That's also why the nose of fighters looks like a bullet, it creates extra lift so they can carry the missiles and stuff."

Huh? So thats how they make those long passes in the NFL. They throw it really hard at the ground and get "LIFT“.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I was in Sports World and was talking to a guy that I'm now good friends with when an older guy walks in and asks to see a pistol, fair enough, I walk over a bit and listen, looks at the pistol exchanges a few comments and hands it back to the salesman. Customer then asks, "you wanna know what gun cops fear the most in a traffic stop?" Salesman has a "where the fuck is this going" look and says, "No, tell me." Customer says "a 22 Mag." By this time I've walked a bit closer to hear. Sales man says "Really? Why so?" Customer says, "because it can punch through lvl V body armor plates and once it enters the body it starts bouncing around inside, shredding everything." I about shit myself. So the salesman looks to me knowing that I want in on this
grin.gif
and asks me what do I think. I politely ask the customer why he thinks this and his reply is that because it’s small and fast and it just pushes the armor out of the way. So I ask f a 5.56 will do the same just to see if he is at least consistently stupid. I was amazed when he said no, “because a 556 travels slower and arcs less."
confused.gif
So I got a 22 mag, and 556 and set them side by side. I said “same grain of bullet, same diameter right?" He agreed, so I ask him "then how can a normal 556 travel slower than a 22 mag if the 556 has more case capacity and powder behind it?" He thinks for a second... and his response was golden, he asks me "do you not understand physics ya’ dumbass?!" He then turned around and walked off. Made my day.
smile.gif

I was a bit dissapointed we didn't get to discuss lvl V body armor. lol

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I know a guy that told me flat out dead serious that the pistons in a GM "vortec" engine actually spin as they travel up and down in the cylinder..... I know I didnt know what to think either. He followed by saying thats why its called a vortec/vortex engine. Apparently gm re-invented the engine. Best part is I didnt correct him so the next lucky guy can get a laugh!

Everyone knows that. The connecting rods are threaded all the way down.

Picture that.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

Ok I think I have a winner. Was bullshiting about guns today to someone at work, mentioned how I'm thinking about getting a second Savage MK II (my current trainer is a FV .22), because while overall I'm not a huge Savage fan, I like the rifle. I mentioned I wanted to get a .17. He proceeds to tell me that there is a barrel insert that I can thread down the land/groove in my barrel that turns a .22 into a .17- like an adapter. He tells me his buddy has one, and the rifle in both .22 and .17 have the same POI and are very accurate. I just throttled up my loader and tracked away.

Re: best bull shizzle someone told you and was serious

I think briley is making them for savage, pretty popular on the skeet ranges.

Had a guy stop in where I work last week and he starts telling me about his rifle. Said he got it from his Vietnam Sniper uncle. it's a a 7 mag and has a Leupold Scope on it.
He said he takes a 12" long 2x4, cuts a groove in the top and stick 5 quarters in the groove. He shoots each quarter out of the groove with one shot at 600 yards.
I asked which Leupold scope and and he said "I don't know, but it cost $18,000.00"
He asks "Do you believe that?"
"if you say so." was my reply.

Had I guy I work with start talking to me about LR shooting as he heard me talking to a few other guy i work with that were thinking about getting into it. Told me that I could keep all that paper punching at long distances cause he used to do the real thing. Knowing he was ex-army I ask if he was a sniper or something. He said no not while he was in the army but after he got out. SO i was like OOOKKKK? was you a contractor?NOPE........after I got out I used to take my four wheel drive three wheeler(math didnt add up to me but hey what do I know about three wheelers) back on the mountain with my savage .223 yeah thats right you can keep you 308 you shoot cause I would take my .223 on the mountain and shoot deer at 1600 and 1800 yards. From mountain top to mountain top. I asked so what kinda scope did you have on this savage cause that really good shooting (I said while trying to keep a straight face) Just my TASCO 3x9 I have really good eye sight.

BUT then again this is the same guy who later told me about how he wrestled a gator then handcuffed it behind its back. Also got sued by two girls that he did amateur
porn with (back in the day) because he had a 16in pecker so a judge ordered him to have a legal penal reduction or face assult charges.

I love when I get a chance to talk with this guy he is the running joke at work.

While at a range in Kuwait our Brigade CSM came to visit. While I was taking him around showing him the training going on he told me about a Soldier he had in Afghanistan that could make head shots at 1100 meters with his M4... while standing.

Roger that Sergeant Major!

Hope that isn't too political, I tried to leave out specific names.

As many times as I have heard this one in the last few years I can't believe nobody has posted it...where I live we dont have alot of deer but we have a pretty decent herd. During the rut more of them seem to get hit by cars. Coyotes are just starting to show up in this county and I wish I had a $100 bill for everytime I have to suffer thru the story about how the auto insurance companies paid the DNR to release coyotes to help control the deer population because they are going in the hole repairing damaged automobiles.

The other day I was in a store and this {appeared to be} clean cut looking high school graduate aged kid is having a conversation with his dad about money. He says very philosophical like to his dad that "money isn't the answer to everything", His dad kind of agreed and the kid goes on to say the inevitable... "money wont buy you happiness." His dad kinda looked at me with a grin, almost as if to say "you want this one??" So I says to the kid..."dude, you aint never been to a Mexican whore house have ya????"

Ive got one that leads to another.

I used to work in management for a local grocery chain. We would go though assistant managers like toilet paper, and I had been with the company about 7 years. We would get guys in all the time that were ex military. One of our best managers had been a Sgt in the Army and liked to wear dresses on the weekends. I was unable to serve, but my Dad had, and whenever I heard B.S. I would call him to be my B.S. Detector. Had this guy about 50 come to work for us that claimed to have served in Vietnam. This guy was a rolling mess. Never had his shirt tucked in, smelled of B.O. often, never cared about how good of a job he did, and always had a story about something to waste 30 minutes at work. I overheard one of his stories one day about how he had an Armored classification while serving in the 101st. This didn't sound right to me, and my B.S. Detector said it might have been fishy. Well, I was stuck working the closing shift with him one night and we had canned soups on sale. He decides he has figured out his menu at home for the next month and bought like 50 cans of it. Since we had to lock up together as witnesses, I helped him out to his beat up car with his soup, had like 6 bags of them. He tells me about how he is living in section 8 housing and hasn't moved all his stuff into his apartment yet. The car is packed full of crap!!! He states he can move some stuff around in the trunk to make room for the soup. He pops his trunk and starts handing me display boxes. I'm wanting to get out of there and try not to look at what he hands me, til I saw something that I didn't think I could be looking at. Of the four displays he handed me, I see two Silver Stars......and his name on the display boxes. The other two boxes were medals I had no idea as to what they were, but I was " You earned two Silver Stars?!?!? He keeps digging to make room for his soup, and says " ya think thats something, look at this one" and hands me a box with a CMOH. I told him its nice that he collects these medals but I hope he is not passing them off as his. He taps the display box with the CMOH in it and stated " its mine, spent two months in a hospital after I earned it." and packs the rest of his soup away. I say goodnight to him and went home and looked him up in CMOHS.org.......SOB!!! He was listed. I went in the next day and told my manager about the "loser" we hired has a CMOH. He chuckles a little bit and says I need to go tell the District Manager that he just fired a CMOH winner for being 15 minutes late for work that morning. The District Manager was sick after I told him........The Manager and I figured out he didnt give a squat about the job since now we figured his stories had been true. I wish I could remember the guys name so you could look it up also, but if I'm really pressed I can get my old manager to write a letter stating this is a true story:)

The reason I knew I was looking at a CMOH that night is because I used to work at a video store that sold mostly new tapes. I was fixing up a Veterans Day display when an older gentleman was walking around the display, and went "Damn, that cover makes me remember how cold it was!" He was a regular customer, and he was holding a copy of "The Battle of the Bulge". Turns out he was there in the 101st. This was about 20 yrs ago and I don't remember the conversation too well, but being the kid of a former service member, I remember thanking him for his service and how he went on about how cold it was and how his wife wakes up every night without any covers because he still freezes in his dreams and how he had been shot at and heard lots of Germans in the battle. He did mention his foxhole was overran a couple of times and it was a Hell hopefully my generation would never see. He didn't buy the video, said he remembered it well enough. Two weeks later he comes in the store with a box and tells me he has something he wants me to see. Turns out he had a CMOH in the box. Said he got it in the battle. I called him "A Hero!". He stated he was not. This was in the early 90's in Owensboro, KY and I'm pretty sure he is no longer alive, but he was a hell of a man. Can't remember his name either.

So, one day I'm in Dillard's getting a tie for a high school reunion coming up. Over about five yards from me there is a old man and his son trying to buy a suit for the older gentleman. The salesman is joking around and says "wedding?" and the older guy states he is being flown out to Arizona for a book signing. He stated he was a POW in Japan during WWII that worked in the coal mines. I start paying attention at this time. The guy went on for about an hour telling stories about being a POW, starving to death, being beat daily, watching the one nice guard beheaded for sneaking them rice soup, how they had to push the coal carts even after wheels fell off.......you get the picture. By the time he had finished there were about 40 guys standing around the mens dept listening to him speak. Dillard's gave him the suit for free for his service. I don't remember his name or if he won a CMOH either, but I wish I had. I want to read that book he wrote.

I wish I could remember all the BS stories that I've heard over the years...so many working selling firearms, at a gun range, gunsmith etc. All kinds of stories about "my gun is this, I can shoot x well- love calling guys out on this or the military guys- we shot guys at x distance (outside the capability of the gun type thing)--all time favorites "I was taught killdo"- special training where I can kill you with a touch/punch. Outside of the "killdo technique" this one story from the same guy stands out.

This guy tells me that during his "advanced watercraft training", where he learned to get out of the water right next to me without making a sound, there were the "elite" that were training to breathe under water. Yes, "breathe underwater". So I sit and listen to this guy tell me how these elite SF guys had trained to where they could stay underwater almost indefinitely. He went on to say how this works- apparently we humans never lost all our gills as fish. What happens is that once you learn not to panic underwater, you can force water into the tubes in your mouth/throat and they still retain the "gill filimant" which will pull oxygen out of the water.

In my younger day I was range officer at my dad shooting club, so I heard a shit load of stupidity from hunter etc.. But my best was this black bear hunter who had to sit down on a steel chair with honey on his boots, he was not allowed to kill the bear until he was licking the honey off his boots, here's the kickers he had to kill it with a samurai sword

Of course I made him repeat the story to all the people around

You should of ask him to show it to you with you holding his head underwater
