Little know and highly underrated but Babylon 5 was a quality series with a great story arch. You could skip the first few seasons but it picks up nicely.

Star Trek Next Generation was also really good, people forget how this show completely rebooted Star Trek. Also there was no space sci-fi at the time this came out, it restarted that whole genre. Besides it gave us the Borg and Q. Not to mention that the Fox Network was basically kicked off by this show, the Simpsons, America's Most Wanted, and COP's lol.

Here is a cheesy old one: Quantum Leap was really entertaining, not so much sci-fi though but was an interesting take on time traveling.

Come on. We all know the show that kicked off the Fox Network was Married with Children.

Quantum Leap is a great call though.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine was the best out fo that franchise.

I would rank my favorites

Battlestar Galactica (New One) very edgy
Babylon 5 - last season was weak the movies were mostly good
Farscape
Deep Space 9
Stargate - MacGuyvers Sarcasm is Second to None
Firefly - great characters

Good call! I knew I had forgotten something. I know Tracy Ulman and In Living Color were big at the time but not like those shows.

I could never get behind Battle Star Gallactica though. Story was terrible.

Farscape had great characters and a actual ending, with great character development.

mine:

Movie: Aliens
Series: SG-1. My favorite series of all time.

I could never digest Star Trek Gen2. Picard and Riker were both preachy tools. "Number one, I order you to take a number 2". Voyager was far better.

I'll plug Red Dwarf for odd Brit sci-fi humor. They had some good bits.

Doctor Who after the reboot kicks much ass... especially Tenant's version.

Re-boot Battlestar Galactica was huge, as well I was a B5 fan, at the end it started to fall off with the spin-offs, but still good.

Movies wise,

Independence Day I watch all the time, especially since HBO and MAX keep trading it off, as well the comic book movies, like Iron Man, Batman Begins, etc, are all good.

as a child, the movie "aliens" gave me so many nightmares. my mom was a big sci-fi/alien fan at that time. aside from thinking i had a zenomorph under my bed at night, being exposed to that genre at a young age was freakin amazing!!

If you haven't heard of or checked out Ghost In The Shell I highly recommend it. It is an anime but it is REALLY good. If you do watch it do it in subtitles as the English voice actors suck.

Invaders From Mars,
Aliens (the full version),
both versions of "The Thing", since the first scared the crap out of me as a kid, and the second was more in keeping with the original story by Campbell (writing as Don A Stewart).
MST3K, since I think my brothers and I invented heckling C grade Sci-Fi.
About the third time we would see a re-run, we would turn down the sound and do our own dialogue. Hilarious.
The Giant Behemoth,
Godzilla, (our first heckle-target)
War Of The Worlds.
and I second the vote for I Dream of Genie.

I hope you all realize that SciFi changing the name to SyFy was more related to NBC buying the station, hence the name change and the shitty programing. I mean WTF with wrestling>!>!>

Netflix has all 10 SG-1 seasons on tap and many of the movies. Stargate Atlantis, Universe also.

Yea, but I've already seen them all, many times over. I'd like tos ee new episodes.

I still DVR the reruns on sci-fi, and watch some of them.
