    Good evening,
    Hope I can get someone(s) to help me, (actual a lot of help) and avoid any costly or timely mistakes please, and I am as much interested learning these things for myself versus where my current knowledge level is at?

    I dont want to clog up LRI group buy thread with my questions, nor do I want to bother Chad anymore than I already have :)

    Here is my desire;
    I have a original 30+ year old Rem 700, 30-06 ADL which will be my donor action. (I bought this when I was a mere 15 years old with my paper route money, definelty sentimental value in this build).
    I desire to build a 300 Win Mag Tactical Match, throated for the Berger 215 hybrids'.

    The barrel I have in hand is a Spiral Fluted Hart Sendero/Varmint contour 10 twist, should finish around 27".

    1) What thread pitch is recommended for a JP brake? My muzzle is .830 diameter. and JP's website gives me 1/2X28 or 5/8X24 TPI as options.

    2) Any preference on the muzzle brake material if the entire gun is going to be ceracoated? Stainless or Matte Black?

    3) The most unfamiliar part to me is the advice Chad gave me, look into a PT&G replacement bolt, as it is cost prohibitive for LRI to open up the existing bolt.
    As I did just that, the options/drop down is were I got into "BIG" trouble understanding what I need/should order.
    Here goes;
    I have been told that I should measure the existing bolt and size up a thou or two. I am guessing that this is to make things a bit more "tight" than the exisiting bolt? But one would presume that it cannot be "too big" and expect it to work appropriately. Is this something I can do as far as measuring/determining the OD of the new PT&G bolt?

    One piece or two piece bolts preferred?

    Use the 11 degree sweep or no sweep on the bolt handle?

    Is the bolt face the "mag" size at .550 for the 300 WIn Mag?
    Chad told me .545 and there is not a drop down for that exact size.

    What extractor cut size and option? Currently the options are a mini M16 extractor cut (.447, .484, .543, and .590)
    or M16 style extractor cut (.484, .543, and .590)?

    A required field on the order form requests the following;
    Specify OD (Std .6995 to .700) Im presuming this is were the above advice I received comes into play about oversizing the bolt by a thou or two? The existing bolt OD measures .695-.696
    Standard bolt nose option? yes or no? This option is new to me as well.

    Choose pin hole, two choices here; .small pin hole .062 or standard pinhole .078?

    4) Rework the stock trigger or put the money towards an aftermarket trigger and just sell the stock trigger?

    5) Ill need complete BDL bottom metal with spring and follower, is PT&G a good source for that or just look for used Bottom Metal?

    6) Id prefer to stay with the Nathan Dagley bolt handle as it matches the turrets on the NF scopes. 5/16x24 TPI to accept Nathan's handles, but I didnt see anywhere on PT&G website were it showed thread info on the bolt handle?

    7) Any coating recommendations or options for the PT&G bolts? If I have it ceracoated, how does ceracoating hold up on a bolt?

    8) Spiral fluting on the bolt is wanted, but again, the multitude of choices from PT&G is to advanced for me and I dont see PT&G examples/photos? Or, I am just better off letting LRI flute it as part of the group buy?

    Thank you so much in advance for any help as I venture further away from shore in building this gun. I fell as though I have a great grasp and understanding of loads for my previously built customs, but I want to understand all of this more on the build side of things.
    Again, THANK YOU for your advice and expertise. Dave

    I would call Dave Kiff at PTG a call in regards to any PTG questions. He's on here when he has time. He gave me great advice on my last two reamers. He is a very easy fella to talk to and the fact that he is willing to help out, IMHO spoke volumes. I'm actually saving up to purchase a lathe and possibly a mill after I talked to him several times.
