How does this work? Is it like a fireamr purchase. Said can is shipped to your Class 3 dealer and the paperwork goes from there. If so how does the tranfer work from class 3 to class 3?

IF it is from a dealer then the dealer can transfer it from dealer to dealer on a Form 3 for no charge. Once it is in your home state to your prefered dealer they can transfer it to you on a Form4.

The transfer on a Form3 is taking about a month the last time I heard, so it just adds overall time.

... and if it is from an individual, it will be a dual Form 4. One from the individual to your dealer and another one from your dealer to you. I've done this on an MG but not worth it for a suppressor IMHO.

My last Form 3 was a few months ago and took 3 weeks. One advantage of an out of state purchase is that you don't pay tax (may be offset by the transfer fee though).

My form 3s out of Texas have been 10 days from my fax machine to my mailbox. Thanks Sara Jones! The reason for this is that there is not any major manufacturers in Texas and not many dealers have low enough prices to encourage out of state purchasing.
