Hiders,

This is one of the booths I'm visiting at the SHOT show, namely on the interest in the Regal series of spotters. I have been shown the ad copy that claims there is an objective lens element composed of mineral flourite (ala Kowa Prominar 88mm) that would indicate an optical system on par/similar to the Prominar for about 1/4 of the price.

While I can't comment on the spotter yet until I see it, I do know the claims of the flourite are untrue, bottom line.

Just FYI

Scott

I see on your website that you posted in 2006 about how impressed you were with the celestron ultima. I was looking at the Regal F-ED series and wanted your opinion these scopes. Do you still recommend the celestron brand? They advertise that the objective lens on the regal series is made of fluroite is this false advertising?
I was also looking at the ultima series. Do you have any experience with these?

I just purchased a Regal M2 100ED. It has an ED glass objective, is built very well and I couldn't he happier with the clarity and quality it offers at that price. I have previous experience with Celestron products on the telescope side and for the money you can't go wrong. It's hard for me to justify spending another $1200 plus for anything else. Another hide member did a review on the previous generation that I can't seem to find but the net was that he is happy as well.

edt: No experience with the Ultimas but at that price point they should be as good or better than any others in that same range.
