Just cleaned my Bcg on my ar 10 and chamber with clp to knock some crude off from shooting suppressed. Took bcg apart liberaly applied clp wiped it down function check seems good to go. I have read clp isn't that good to use since it only leaves a light film of lubrication. So question what should I use to lubricate? Is there other products I should be using other than CLP? I know you shouldn't mix cleaning chemicals but if I need to clean with another product I can give it a good wipe down to get majority of clp off. Or an I over thinking shit again. I do not use it to clean my barrel. Thanks for the info

As long as you don’t use in barrel your good to go
I prefer reg Hoppes 9 to clean the BCG with though
Lubricant I use
Reg Gun oil plus Mobil 28 Sun grease
Many sell a similar or exact formula
I mix together with the oil and spread on beating surfaces with my finger
Jardine the famous pistol smith, god rest his soul, taught me this years ago

For lube on the bolt and BCG. Cherrybalmz. Goes only on the contact points. Rest of the BCG stays dry. Doesn't cook off, and works a long time.

You are making cleaning and lubrication harder than it needs to be. I used CLP in service because that’s what Uncle Sam provided. I’ve also just JP8 to clean carbon from the big browning and followed up with 30W oil to lube; no ill effects.

On my personal bottom feeders I use 5W30 synthetic oil on the moving parts. Works very well. Not much is required. Inexpensive and commonly available. Works great on the service rifle.

I also use a 50/50 mix by volume of mineral spirits and Dextron automatic transmission fluid where a lighter oil is required.

Lots of ways to skin that cat for lubricating reciprocating action parts. YMMV.

Lube, best I've used, thick and slick.

Thing is, so many products out there and peoples favorite lube, cleaner, potion, etc. is always "the best" Some get outright retarded over it, argue, etc. Just like religion and politics, to far either way and shit storms get started.

Most any lube and cleaner will work, some better than others. CLP is fine, most any brand does the job for a general purpose AR. Even though Lucas makes a CLP, I still prefer the lube above as the CLP is thin but never had an issue with it. Hoppe's is fine for general cleaning, follow with a good lube.

Easy button--CHAMBER BRUSH-hit the CHAMBER hard with Hoppes or CLP, dry it and dump some CLP or Oil on the BCG-it'll run for a very long time.

Two other "quick" or easy ways-get a glass jar, fill with either Ed's Red or odorless mineral spirits, 3 parts and one part acetone, stick the whole BCG in it, come back in the morning, take it apart, wipe clean and lube.
Want a volume, cheap and effective lube?-either straight up motor oil(Mobile 1 is great) or 50/50 Mobile 1/ATF.-lord knows what you are breathing when suppressed anyhow with whatever you use.

CONTENTS: Ed's Red Bore Cleaner
1 part Dexron II, IIe or III ATF, GM Spec. D-20265 or later.
1 part Kerosene - deodorized, K1
1 part Aliphatic Mineral Spirits, Fed. Spec. TT-T-2981F, CAS
#64741-49-9, or may substitute "Stoddard Solvent", CAS #8052-41-3, or
equivalent, (aka "Varsol")
1 part Acetone, CAS #67-64-1.

Reference your current method--does your gun function during the sessions you typically have? If so-clean that chamber, keep her wet and run it like a rented mule! When done shooting, squirt some CLP on the BCG, let it sit until you clean.
