Cmmg lwr a good basis for build?

I want to build/buy a SASS, but am limited by price. I've looked at many options and have decided I have GAP tastes and a SKS budget. A friend offered to sell his rig for $800. It is a CMMG lwr with a DPMS Oracle upper. On the plus side, it has a JP trigger and will come with a bunch of mags. On the neg. side, the A2 stock looks home shortened. I ran it a little with throw together loads off a bench. It threw approx. 2 moa grps using inadequate optic. I see potential for improvement. I'd like to work toward building a precision 6.5 CM and was wondering if this is a decent value to get into the platform or if I should hold out for a better opportunity.
I've been lurking for about a week, trying to find as much info as possible before asking moronic questions. I haven't found too much about CMMG and I don't know pricing. My goal is a precision target/hunting gun, but I like having the .308 upper for other eventualities. I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I'm a right wing extremist hatemonger with paranoid fantasies.
I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice.

I have too much to learn for ground floor build. I thought this might be an entry vehicle to a new world. If the value is there.

I don't know anything about the cmmg lower specifically but you CAN build your own lower. It's easy as pie!!!

A new Oracle upper is about 630 the lower is probably 350 in parts un assembled not including the jp trigger.

CMMG does use the dpms pattern which is a plus because it should take Pmags. Dpms parts are abundant too.
