It looks like this seller is making a ton of conversion inserts for shotguns

I have no idea of the quality but I figured I would share to get feedback.

I have never used one of the inserts.... any brands to get / avoid?
Are the consistent from shot to shot?

I've seen them advertised occasionally in survivalist/prepper magazines... I don't think they're meant to be a 'good' solution for normal use, more of a EOTWAWKIT scenario where you have a (perceived) need to be able to use whatever you can scrounge.

Einstecklauf.

They are a rifled insert designed to be used in a drilling, and are user adjustable so they can be set to the same POI as the rifle barrel. I'm thinking about making one for my Merkel 96K, in 22 hornet. You could set one up in any double (or single) barrel shotgun, but would need sights for the rifle barrel. They are a lot more accurate than previous posters have suggested, but an order of magnitude more expensive also. Krieghoff make a popular version.

Not sure why you would want to do that

This.

Shotguns are already extremely versatile, due to the huge array of standard ammunition available for them. From buckshot to handloaded buck and ball to slug loads if you want distance plus bone-shattering impact performance.

As a matter of fact, a <$300 short barreled 12-gauge pump gun loaded with magnum slugs will give any >$1000 centerfire big bore revolver or bolt/lever rifle a run for their money within 100 yards...

Biggest problem is your accuracy is going to be limited to MAYBE being able to hit a human sized target at about 25 yards. Free floating adapter and shot bead sites are not a recipe for accuracy.
I used the 9mm converter barrel to group my shots at 100 yards, just using the bead on my shotgun. VERY accurate. Not sure where you are digging up the 25 yard data from.

i can think of a few applications.....

say you are going on an extended camping/ hunting trip....i could see the benefit of carrying a converter in the same caliber as your sidearm. Should you exhaust/ lose/ forget your shotgun shells....youd still have a weapon with more capability than a sidearm.

i could also see a use if you are hunting with a 12g and a buddy is hunting with a 20g.....having a converter from 12 to 20 would be useful should you need to share ammo.

if you have a shotgun with a really tight, fixed choke....this might not be a bad way to shoot solid projectiles out of it.

if you are hunting with a youngster who cant handle slugs.....perhaps a .45 acp might not be bad....

a converter in .22lr would be good, cheap slug practice.

certainly not something everyone needs to have.....but i wouldnt call them useless.
