Re: Coyote with a specialty pistol
The muzzle break helps considerably. Without that it would be a lot more difficult to shoot it without getting scope eye. U have to acquire the target in the optic and push the scope away a bit until u get maybe 4-5" eye relief before u shoot it. One of the secrets to accuracy out of these pistols is to mount the rifle scope as far back as possible such that u can straighten your forearm while shooting. This allows for a more consistent recoil.
I have 2 of those 3-12x Burris's, and i do like them, but the problem with them is that the eye relief is too long at 12x from the prone position off a bipod on a center grip pistol. I've been looking for a solution to this problem for a long time now and i finally found it--the Gene Davis power booster @ Bullzeye Pro. The booster slips opver the ocular and cuts eye relief in half. But u have to screw the ocular almost all the way in to get a clear focus, and that is sometimes a problem. The older model Burris has a thin lock ring that allows the shooter to screw the ocular further in, but the newer model is wider, which presents a problem. U can tell which model u have by looking at the lock ring--if it has 1 knurled ring it's the older model--the newer one has 2 knurled rings on it. I have 1 if the 35% power boosters on a 7-270 WSM XP-100 and it makes it a 4-16X with 1/2 the eye relief.
