Re: Crimp question

when you size the case the neck gets squeezed down to a certain diameter...

measure that....

when you seat teh bullet that diameter will change...

measure it...

the difference will tell you your neck tension..

example:

you resize & your neck mics at .333
seat a bullet & it reads .335

that give you a .002 neck tension (what most use)

that is sufficient to keep the bullet from moving around... no crimp necessary...

however some autoloaders (ar10) like a light crimp to ensure teh bullet doesn't slip under recoil in the mag... causing the bullet to push back in teh case & creating a dangerous pressure spike...

not a problem in bolt guns
