I know it's been beat to death. And I know most of the pros and cons.I ran a 650 a bit a few years back. And I'm Leary of it cause of the auto indexing. although we were working out the kinks when when a guy I used to work with first got it. there were some bad train wrecks. But this will primarily be for 5.56 and 9mm and it will be only small primer ever. all large primer and precision stuff will stay on my Redding turret. I've read the 650 can have issues with smaller case overspill when you get to rocking and rollin.

223 with most powders tends to flick a little powder out of the case on index; it's the hard stop that causes this. When I index, with a bullet in my left hand, I place the bullet / hand on the case going into the seating station. This dampens it enough that powder does not flick out of that case or the case in the previous station.

To me, the auto index reduces the chance of a double charge. You also have a station for the powder check, if you wanted to use it.

If you install some of the upgrades for the XL650 this eliminates any powder spilling out of the cases. I have zero powder coming out of any caliber case I run in my XL650 once I installed the performance upgrade kit a few years ago. Nice and smooth.

I did same mods to my 650, I highly recommend them, I only load 9mm and 556 on mine, I presort my brass and pick out the 380 and crimped primer pocket brass

Another vote for 650. I always just placed my finger on the plate to dampen it when indexing but I'm going to check out the upgrade kit. I think I can do about 100 rounds of 9mm. I also have a dedicated sizing head. This allows me to use case feeder to quickly size a ton of long range brass and then I expand, dump powder, and seat bullet on my 550.

Yes I have dedicated case prep toolhead for 5.56, 300blk, 308 and 6.5cm. They consist of Decapping die, trim die/rt1500 trimmer that pushes shoulder back and trim to length and 21st Century TiN expander mandrel that sets .002 neck tension...
