Got the big box today, Dillon XL750 and I'm in the process of modifying it for precision reloading and generally optimizing its performance.

I'm already in the process of pulling the powder drop system apart to polish the appropriate components. On the powder die itself, on the bottom, if you feel with your fingers, there's a lip on the inside radius. Do you knock that down or does it serve some sort of unknown purpose?

Here's a photo looking down the powder die, the black ring is the lip. Knock it down so it's smooth?

Do you have the appropriate funnel for the powder die? Im not in front of my press but im thinking that shoulder might hold the powder funnel in the die?

I opened up one of the caliber conversion kits and inserted the funnel in the die. Helps if you have a good understanding of what goes where before making changes! It really doesn't appear you'd need to polish the powder die at all, just the powder funnel and drop tube. I've got the funnel itself mostly polished and have a bunch of small bits and rouge coming tomorrow to finish the polish job.

I have yet to understand this whole problem with Dillon powder drops.
Mine kinda sucks with long extruded powder like imr4350 but other than that I've never had a single issue.....meters perfectly, within .01 every time.

The shoulder stops the funnel from dropping through the die. You want to keep it for sure. Not sure what you'd gain from polishing the inside of the powder through die, it doesn't ever see powder, and won't make the action of the drop any smoother. You're better off working the drop bar for smooth and repeatable operation. I've fiddled with mine for many hours, never seeing better than .2 resolution, and getting that was not worth the time. There are other drops that better serve you if you're wanting more precise and consistent drops. A better practice is to find a node wider than .2 and run it, knowing the limitations. My opinion, all of it. Good luck.
