Just did some math on the upcoming 12.4 million SS recipients over 120 years of age getting knocked off the rolls.
Lets just say that the average benefit was $2,000 per month. That's $24.8 BILLION savings per MONTH. Just barely shy of $300 Billion per year savings.
Were all those folks actually receiving payments?
There seems there might be a slight inflation of who was on the roll vs who actually received payments.

It is unlikely that any person would voluntarily sign up to be in the military with the full knowledge that a portion of the money they earn as well as a portion of the money everyone earns, now and forevermore is and will be used to artificially standup groups that would generate reason for their violent involvement and potential death while having absolutely nothing to do with national defense.

You're asking me something different than the subject - the original question was "Who did not know the US Gov was the largest financier of terrorism on the planet?" Right? Ostensibly - people who joined the service, b/c most folks aren't gonna go serve if they understood their government was actually using them for fodder in matters that have nothing to do with providing for a common defense.
But if you are asking me this other question - no, of course not. In fact it is noble - the constitution provides for the common defense (NOT "American" Interest Abroad) so for a citizen to step forward and say - I will defend my fellow citizens - that is admirable. That is the kind of character that should be celebrated and reenforced in American culture.
Regarding what we were actually talking about (manipulation and how people ended up in the service in spite of the Gov always having been at odds with them personally) it is not without notice that:

1973 OPEC Embargo
1975 Petro Dollar
1973 - 1976 - worst recession since Great Depression (they started shutting down factories and exporting jobs)
1979 Army trial program $$ for enlistment for college - made permanent in 1981
1981 beginning of Be All You Can Be
By 1980 the US had fundamentally changed its Econ, hourly manufacturing workers were too expensive to be competitive on a world scale. The US made the Dollar an Industry and flooded the world with Federal Reserve Notes. We outspent the Soviets and broke them. We became the world's policeman.
