There are a couple different iterations of this, but here is my take on the idea.

The straps are fully adjustable. The window can be written on with dry-erase, sharpie or alcohol pens. I have tested it with a bunch of different writing utensils. You just don't want to use anything with a really sharp tip because it will cut into the plastic. It will accept 3x5" index cards. That should be big enough for the biggest Dope cards (or two) and will probably work for a small field sketch or range card.

I rigged the back with PAL webbing so if you wanted to mount it to a ruck or vest you can.

No, but I think it could be real neat if it was incorporated into a stock pack. Stuff like that <span style="font-style: italic">never</span> stays put on my forearm. Maybe something Velcro'ed onto a BDU sleeve? If you like the idea, it's all yours.

I would put about 4 shell loops on the outside, for emergency purposes.
