I feel like there isn't enough information out there about what exactly is and isn't compatible with the DPMS G2. I'm hoping that everyone who is in the know can help fix that problem by filling this thread with that information.

Please help me out guys, I am a new owner who is new to the ar platform, so my information is sketchy and very limited :p

The list so far...

Proprietary to DPMS G2

Bolt Carrier Group
Barrel Nuts (there are 2 different DPMS barrel nuts for the G2)
Barrels (possible solution available)
Handguards (to an extent)
Charging Handle
Ejection Port Dust Cover
Upper and Lower Receivers
Takedown Pins

Compatible with DPMS G2

Handguards
Midwest Industries
Samson MFG
SLR Rifle Works

Gas Blocks That Fit Under Stock Rails
JP Enterprises .936 JPGS-8

Barrels
DPMS G2 24" Bull Barrel
Possible aftermarket barrels with use of Hammer-Arms barrel extension --- https://hammer-arms.com/product/barr...pms-gen-2-308/

Upper/Lower Receiver Vice Mounts
Geissele Reaction Rod (not sure if it is the 15 or 308 that fits)
DPMS G2 Action Block Claw (not in stock most places)
XS Sights Armorer's AR Block
308 Magazine Well Blocks

Stocks
All AR15 compatible stocks

Triggers
All AR15 triggers

Grips
All AR15 grips

Buffers
All AR15 Buffers (Fact Check me please!)

After Market Magazines
Lancer L7 Magazine (Feeds very well, follower can tilt and drop the bolt catch on last round sometimes causing a lack of lock back)
Magpul PMAGS (Many have reported issues with PMAG feeding and you have to modify the G3 PMAG's follower to get it to lock back on empty)

Accessories
XS Sights DPMS G2 Bore Guide

My new baby is a DPMS G2 SASS.

I have only had it a few weeks and I am fairly new to shooting rifles, but the gun clearly shoots better than I do. This was my first 5 shot group last week... I wasn't quite done sighting in when the range officer called 2 minutes til close, so I popped in 175 FMMG and put 5 down range (I wanted to see what she could do).

I don't know too much about the compatability yet, but I do know that the JP Enterprises .936 JPGS-8 adjustable fits very easily under the stock handguard as I just switched mine out (she was chewing on my brass).

That is it for what I know... but I have read a few things as well. There are quite a few handguards that fit this rifle. Midwest Industries makes a few, Samson MFG makes one that is compatible with the free float barrel nut...

BY THE WAY... On a quick side note, I figure I should mention that there are 2 different barrel nuts for the DPMS G2 and BOTH are proprietary to this gun so far.

...as I was saying, SLR Rifleworks also makes one specifically for the DPMS Gen2. There are apparently some AR15 handguards that will work with one of the barrel nuts, but not the other? I have not tried to replace my handguard yet, but when I do I might know more.

Triggers, stocks, grips, and possibly buffer tubes are all compatible with the AR15 platform if I am not mistaken.

BCG, charging handles, and ejection port dust covers are for sure not compatible with ANYTHING.

Barrels are proprietary to DPMS G2, but Hammer-Arms has made a compatible barrel extension that as I understand can be fitted to any 308 barrel to make it compatible? (Someone please educate me here as I barely know what a barrel extension is...)
https://hammer-arms.com/product/barrel-extension-fits-dpms-gen-2-308/

Lower receiver can attach to a magazine well block.

DPMS makes a Gen2 Upper Receiver Action Block Claw, but it is out of stock everywhere.

One of the Geissele Reaction Rods supposedly fits (someone used one in a YouTube video on a Gen2), so you can use that in place of the action block claw if you need to, but I can't seem to find any answer as to whether it is an AR15, or LR308 reaction rod that fits...

Well, that's all the information I have gleaned so far. In the grand scheme, there is a LOT that I don't know yet, and there isn't one good place that has all the info, so I hope we can make this that place.

The XS Sights upper receiver block works on the Gen 2, as well as the original DPMS pattern rifles, AR10's, and AR15's. I have one, it's well made.

Sweet! Thats a bit pricey, but at least someone is making one that work, but as a bonus, it does work with everything else too... 15 and 10... (that just means I have to go buy a .223 right? lol)

It looks like they have a couple of other things that work with the Gen2. They have a bore guide as well!

So quick update, the JP gas block fully closed still allowed my slider to lock back on empty... I caller JP and apparently I missed the part where you have to run a tap through the adjustment screw hole and into the gas tube... you have to cut threads into the tube so the screw can get past it. This might be normal for adjustable gas blocks, but since this is my first gas block install I figured I would share the information.

I am testing it out again this weekend, so wish me luck!

I have a JP adjustable gas block on a AR 15 and never had to run a tap in to tap the gas tube. It will shut all the way off turning the rifle into a single shot. I've had several adjustable gas blocks from different manufacturers and have never had that problem. Is that something specific to the AR10's?

I don't know to be honest, but the adjustment screw went in what I thought was the whole way... but fully closed, the rifle still cycles and locks back on empty mag. The directions did mention a tap, but I ignored it lol. Contacted JP and they said that it was most likely the problem, that the screw wasn't actually going the whole way in and that I needed to "tap" the gas tube sideways by running a tap through the adjustment screw hole... it makes sense if you think about it. They can get a much tighter seal if the screw threads directly into the surface of the gas tube hole... anyways, all I know is that I ran the tap in and now the screw goes in MUCH further than before before bottoming out... so I have high hopes that it is the solution to the problem. I have some lighter load 150 gr bullets (I mainly shoot 165-170gr bullets) that are an example of the lightest load I will probably ever shoot out of this rifle, and I'm going out in the next hour to try adjusting the gas block again :D

I will let you know what happens.

So it worked. Threaded the whole way in now the rifle won't even eject the spent casing... about 3 1/4 turns out is perfect... locks back but doesn't eat up the casings any more :D I'm glad this worked so well actually! I was nervous when I tried it last week and it locked back fully closed.

Yes, we make a barrel extension that can be used to add a new barrel to your Gen2, but it's more complicated than just threading it on to any 308 barrel.

Basically, you need to find a custom barrel maker who has .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor blanks. He cuts the blank to length, threads the blank to fit the Gen 2 barrel extension, installs the extension, chambers, crowns, head spaces, etc. It's far from a DIY project.

We have been producing small runs of match grade barrels in 6.5 and .308, and they are shooting under 1/2" MOA. Right now, we have them 18" and 22" in .875 and .750, but I'd be interested in hearing you guys' input and seeing what you are looking for.

What SLR Rifle Works handguards are compatible w/ G2?

I canÂ’t seem to find it on their website but this is the one I have. I got it a couple of years ago.

I just installed the new match barrel from Rainier Arms today. It’s 16” with an intermediate length gas system.

You can see the gas port position and the contour difference from this pic.
