Okay, DTA makes one more cool piece of kit. But I can't play at that level anytime soon (or maybe ever). But I love the concept.

Is there any talk about someone (hopefully DTA) designing or bringing a bullpup drop in to market for the Remington/Savage platforms?

Seems to me that it would be a winner. It needn't have all the bells and whistles or quick change capabilities of the DTA system. Just a drop in chassis system for whatever rifle you're currently running. I'd save my pennies for one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a bull pup design require a modified trigger, therefore eliminating the possibility of a drop in chassis for a factory action.

I wished for one too but this thought dawned on me.

Well, the devil's in the details. You'd have to have some type of linkage from the front trigger to the rear. The trick would be to not add too much slop and/or weight to the pull. Cycling the bolt will reset the rear trigger and a spring could be used to return the front trigger.

I hope it works out.

What about a Remington XP-100? I've heard these have a decent trigger. It wouldn't move the trigger as far up as a DTA but it's a start in the right direction.

It seems to me that aside from problems already stated, a bullpup 700 bolt would be way too far back to be advantagious from the shooting position. While I am absolutely in love with the SRS, the bolt manipulation requires a little relearning for your hand due to its location, slightly farther back than we are used to. The 700 bolt would be even further back, requiring the shooter to either move out of position or grow another arm.

Wouldn't that just be a function of how far to the rear the action is placed? It certainly wouldn't be as short as the DTA rifles.

Re: Drop in Bull Pup bolt gun stock?

You could do it, but to make it reasonably fast you would need to modify the bolt handle. This would almost certainly be a key failure point unless you wanted to go totally modifying the receiver. Once you start to factor in the R&D a DTA SRS makes a lot of sense.
