How would I change my dope card from MOA to clicks??

Im using 1/4 MOA adjustments.. I did it before but for right now I cant remember how I converted it over into clicks.. My brain just isnt working.

I got this off of JBM Ballistics calc online that I put onto my Iphone for a range card. Im not too sure if I put in MOA/100yd or just them in MOA.. So Im not sure if its how many MOA drop at that range.. Or MOA drop from point of shot..

Idk I'm just so confused because from what I've come up with is just like way off. If what I go was right I would have to put more hold off/clicks for this 175g SMK load than for shit factory 147g Winchester ammo. Which I just cant believe.

Goal is for 300 to 1100 yards.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

MOA is MOA regardless of distance.

If 1 click = 1/4 MOA then 4 clicks = 1 MOA.

Multiply your MOA drop by 4 to get clicks.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

Is this a joke? Why the hell would you want to use clicks? Multiply the MOA value by four and you have it in clicks for your quarter MOA turrets. Seriously though counting clicks is about as usefull as a dick on a chick. That's why scopes have numbers on them, and in low light situations it makes more sense to use a reticle holdover.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

Well you could in JBM change your column 1 or 2 units from 1.0 MOA to 0.25 MOA. That would give you clicks. Or you could take the column 1 dope you have above, and mutilpy you MOA drop numbers each by 4.

Though I don't know why having clicks will somehow help you. As far as comparing 147 gr Shit Win ammo vs a 175 SMK, the 147 gr stuff has a higher velocity, so will require less drop, but more drift.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

Haha thanks for your replies and yea that's what I did but it seemed like so many clicks.. And for me it's easier to divide by 4 then find the number than to multiply and then divide by 4 to get the number to turn into.

And yea I thought the same thing a MOA is a MOA no matter what distance but why do they have options of either MOA value or MOA/100 value

Also I k ow these aren't for sure measurements but what would you rather go to the field with absolutely nothing and a ball park range card.. And honestly jbm was literally spot on with the 147g stuff last time I shot I didn't change a thing

Counting clicks sets yourself up for failure. Try doing a stress shoot thinking clicks. Hell, even the slightest distraction can throw you off on your count. You'll get lost and have to start over again, or end up with the wrong setting and miss the shot.

Clicks vs. actual MOA was also brought up in this thread.

Do what you want, but there's a reason virtually nobody else does it.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

your scope turrets has numbers on it, zero your rifle and scope then count numbers, not clicks.
hope this helps.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

Ohhh Ok I understand what you guys are saying..

Sorry I've been really simple minded this whole week.. I think Im going retarded.

Again thanks for the replies and help guys.

Sucks my Bushnell tops out at 41 total MOA and current zero.
Thank god I have mil-dots to boot

So I can just hold off with mills to make up for the rest haha

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

P.s. Sorry for the chart not matching up well.. Wel I posted it on the post screen it was perfect and same in my phone.. Guess the format changes when its actually posted.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

As of right now I've only taken it out to 675 using factory 147g with horrid result. Reason I'm starting to throw up some hand loads to see what my rifle can really do. My goal is 1000 yards so I can finally say ive done it and see if a stock budget sps t can do it.

But in short just 675 so far lol

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

Even at 675 I would think that the counting clicks would be a huge pain in the ass especially with 1/4MOA turrets. Good luck and you'll see that the 155's or 175's are a hell of a lot better.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

Yea now that I think about it it would have been a pain in the ass to could clicks... but I swore on my previous dope card I used clicks..

And Im really hoping so.. the 147g ammo was just crap. It was giving me about 3 ft groups around the target. I was really scared it was
my rifle for a second or even me.. Then I learned about hand loads and how much they can help a rifles accuracy.

Re: Feel really stupid for this.. But..

I make my own drop cards on Excel based on real life drops at the distances available to me and fill in the blanks with the Iphone "Ballistic" app. I have access to 100, 200, 300, 500, 600 and 1k so I can input the "hard" #'s for those distances and the rest will have a good educated guess for the drop if I have the need or opportunity to shoot other distances.

For the columns, I have one that shows the actual drop in inches and next to it I just have an "adjustment" column. I show the adjustment as 2 numbers - like 5/3 for instance. The "5" would refer to the # on my elevation turret and the "3" refers to the # of clicks past the 5. So, from my 100 yard zero, turn the knob to "5" and then go 3 more clicks. This is the simplest and fastest system I have come up with so far. Having the actual drop in MOA on the chart doesn't do me any good because I can only dial to the closest .25 MOA anyways, so I round the #'s to the nearest .25 before I type them in on the chart. If it needs to be more precise than 1/4 m MOA, chances are I can't hit it anyways.

Just my $.02, worth what you paid for it.
