FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

I guess. Best I can find the 175s for is 23.50$ a box from a different store. Guess I'll get a set of 168s and see how they shoot. Probably the last set I get before I start rolling my own.

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

If you're shooting between 0-700 yards 168's should be fine.

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

Palmetto has the 175's for $19.95

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

I was told that Federal makes less 175s.

Champion's Choice, best place to buy SMK bullets, best price, best service-they actually stock what the sell and are always at CP.

I'd agree with that! Champions Choice SMK 168, box of 100-$28.25, item #2200, box of 500-$138.50 item #2200C
175grSMK box of 100-$29.75 item #2275, box of 500-$141.50 item #2275C, I always buy the 500 count boxes, they always have in stock. I'm not sure where you got that cost number, but I'm reading these figures from the 2011 cat, and their web page. 2011 catalog page 20. Even at 500/purchae the difference between loaded ammo, shouldn't be more than $0.50/box of 20-time to reload your own!

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

I called Federal last year asking the same question. Got the run-around, they passed me off to the regional sales rep., who in turn passed me off to the nearest Federal ammo dealer in my area. I was also asking why 357SIG ammo cost twice as much as 9mm, when 12-years ago, I could buy 357SIG ammo for only a $1.00 higher then what 9mm was selling for.

I think they price it like beer, when Stella was first imported, I could buy it for less then $4 a six-pack. Now that it's popular, they jack the price up to $6-7 a six-pack.

From what twist?

The ammo cost issue is really the main factor behind my "most versatile twist" thread, as I expect to be shooting a lot more 168 considering the price difference...

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

Holy s**t! I'm so happy I reload. I'm running 175smks, in Lapua brass, on 43 grains of Varget topped-off with fed match primers all for $11.50 per 20-rounds.

Some people would say what about component and initial set-up cost. I say what about paying $30.00+ per box!

Good luck, bro!

Re: FGMM 168gr vs 175gr pricing

Here's another place that has 175 FGMM for $22.50

http://schryvergunsales.com/

Just stopped by there last week and picked up a couple boxes.

Had a very large sqwakey parrot in the store. LOL

Yeah I load my own with 175SMK's Lapua brass, 4064 and Fed210M's.Wanted to chrono the factory ammo to get a feel for how it shot out of my rifle as there are times it's just quicker to pick up a box of factory stuff.

Email them and they will let you know when they are back in stock. I got the 175 FGMM for $19.95 per box and some 168 FGMM for $19.75. Shipping was $12 for up to 500 rounds or, how I figured it, only added $0.48 per box (25 boxes).
