Food riots thread…and energy.

Lebanon has had serious problems for some time now. It has been essentially operating as a failed state.

Winter indeed is coming and it’s looking grim for Europe.

I see 1 of 2 possibilities.

EU abandons Ukraine to Russia in order to get their natural gas supply restored

Or

EU goes all in on Ukraine and the war expands. This outcome must end in the destruction of the EU , the defeat of Russia or the removal of Putin.

With the way things seem to work, Putin experiencing an unforeseen medical event seems most likely.

The weak are the first to fall.

Unfortunately it looks like ALL will be falling. It’s just unclear exactly how far this fall will be.

Preparation is cheap compared to the alternative on not being prepared.

It’s always an option, just not a desirable one for any side.

Also.

Don’t discount stupid. It is currently running rampant right now.

I'll take the other side on that I think. I think the EU is about to grind to a halt on production of anything of note. Smelting is down, they are up against an energy crisis wall, and the natives are restless in multiple countries due to energy and food prices. Going to be hard to field an army when the support structure is in chaos and things are burning at home.

I agree.... Nothing new.... History is repeating

The EU was destined to fail from the moment that they decided nations could act like provinces or states. So sorry, but when England and Germany bust their balls to be economic powerhouses and Greece France and a dozen other countries suck off the tit… it’s going to be a disaster.

Nationalism can manifest itself as healthy economic competition. That is what is needed.

The EU and it’s “governing body” is a paper Tiger. Bureaucrats who do nothing but throw sand in the Vaseline of economic progress. The entire organization needs to be shut down. Germany needs its own Brexit… but not happening as long as globalist socialist greens are in charge.

Wake up Germany! Exit and claim your miracle back. Stop giving your childrens future to lazy takers in a dozen other countries… who hate you anyway.

Sirhr

So you believe the EU will fall or exit Ukraine and bow to Russia in order to get their energy back.

I think we are about to see just how committed the people are to their politicians. Likewise we will see how well the politicians can hold their countries and constituents together while simultaneously denying them goods and services - how they do it could go in bad directions if covid is any indication.

I agree. Change is coming in one form or another.

Army? How much combat power is left in Europe after the "peace dividend" of end of Soviet Union? How many tanks, APCs, helicopters, jets, etc. can actually leave the motor pool/airfield? Remember President Trump being ridiculed for pointing out that most of the NATO nations were not supporting their militaries per the NATO standard? There is no NATO "Army" without the US and officially there is no "EU Army". All those individual European nations may need to decide "nationalism" and putting theirs needs first might be the right path forward. Could this unravel the EU is a great question.

Through another news source, some of these refining “incidents “ are related to Russia cyber attacks.

This would, of course, never be verified via government sources. Just like they will never say that there are US troops operating in Ukraine.

Russia just pushed in some more chips.

The article insinuates Russia has 30 million soldiers. I highly question that number.

Give Ukraine it's Nukes back. We will just be giving back what we had stored for a while.
Give Ukraine LONG range HIMARS so they can hit key area. The good Ukrainians are dying while the POS elites are sitting back and sending the Big guy 10%.
Russia will keep moving west as long as showering with his teenage daughter is still president.

A wide angle view of the current world stage.

The view from your AO may differ.
"The USA is suffering the worst drought in 1200 years,"
How do they know? someone counting the tree rings all over the nation? 1200 years?? I call sensationalism.
People are claiming the Rine is drying up, worst drought ever. They have a stone that says othewise. It can get worse.

Sir, you need to shut up. You are ruining the fear mongering. Don’t be throwing inconvenient details around.

the skinny?
Europe needs cheap Russian gas to supply power at the current rate it consumes it. Combine lack of gas with tranny green party efforts to shut down any operational nuclear plants/prevent any new plants from being opened and it is mathematically impossible for Europe to maintain its massive electrical grid. The guy also explains how pants-on-head retarded the idea of replacing these energy dense power sources with windmills and solar panels is. Blackouts and power rationing are inevitable if they don't figure something out quickly.

The thread is full of details on how the electrical grid works, how power is produced and consumed, what power comes from where, etc. One of the most interesting tables from the whole thread:

A resident grid expert can correct me if I'm wrong, but I gathered it's also like cutting fuel supply down to lean levels on a gas engine while it's spinning 9k RPM under full load. Gonna blow up. They don't have the guaranteed supply which sends the grid into "lean" conditions. They can't keep running the whole grid at 95% of capacity compared to demand, they have to completely shut off parts to maintain a 100% delivery to consumption ratio.

Fuck Europe. All of their good looking women are welcome here though.
I think euros have been living off the fat of the land for a while now. They think they understand the largest electrical grid in the world (!!!) well enough to start fucking around with it? Going carbon neutral, closing nuclear plants, all this kind of stupid bullshit sounds lovely on paper but now it's time to pay the piper. Whatever!

The plan is labeled "Run to Failure"....... There has been much discussion here about that plan. It is being seen in refineries, power grids, potable water and sewer systems.... Worldwide.

Should be no surprises when a systems fail.

Why would private corporations invest capital and maintenance funds into industries that governments have promised to destroy? Refineries, electrical power generation, electrical grids will be replaced by the pixie dust of "green energy" and we will like it

I wonder if as a result of the spike in power prices industry will permanently move away from Europe. We are already seeing steel and fertilizer production being cut, who knows for how long if Euros can't figure out a realistic power solution. Could be a big reshuffling of the deck for world industrial centers.

Something to keep in mind is that the WEF wants to practically halt all new construction. Just like they want to make cows & chickens extinct they want to make new housing projects & buildings extinct, except for their pet projects. It's more realistic to view the shutdowns as intentional instead of a side effect due to energy costs. I'll be surprised if any western countries tied to WEF setup policies to help invite those industries with open arms.

Because time and time again, business know the government will step in with wheelbarrows full of cash because 'too-big-to-fail'.

and that's have you get a smooth transition of the government taking over industries.
I believe this is what Biden is hoping to accomplish in the USA.. Energy is too expensive; Gov needs to take over and 'regulate' it even more.

I have seen some businesses get the raw end of that deal when the music stopped and all the chairs were taken.
I'll add...... >>> I have seen some businesses shareholders get the RAW end of the deal
Don't forget when Bill Clinton bailed his buddies out when Mexico's stock market crashed..
