Wonder how other Vietnam Vets feel about this? Personally I like it.

I am a Vietnam Vet. 2/502 Inf, 101st Abn Div, 67-68.

I feel no animosity toward the North Vietnam Soldiers. They did their duty as I did mine. I love The Vietnamese People, its their government that was the problem, as ours was back then. Both are different now. I pray that we can become allies.

I have no regrets on fighting in Vietnam. I've read a poll that said 74% of Vietnam Vets would do it all over again even knowing the outcome. I am one of that 74%.

But, as I said, I do love the Vietnamese People, Beautiful People. A return visit to Vietnam as a tourist, is on my bucket list.

You know I wouldn't mind going back to Iraq once it gets its shit together (my guess is I'll be back before then). There is a lot of history in that country, so it would be nice to see/experience it under a different light. I'm not sure this will ever happen given that religion is a lot harder to change than ideology, but I really see your point of view.

Thank you for your service... I wasnt around then but those were rough times for you all for sure.

Glad you can still have a positive attitude.

As I've stated before, I wouldn't go back if you gave me the country. Too much blood, too many mistakes, too much greed, on both sides. Maybe a few to many ghosts.
I think a military alliance would be bad form. Likely to end up with greater entanglements then we currently have.
Just possibly we should mind our own business for a bit, and get our own house in order.
I can think of no case in our history when siding in with a communist nation has worked well for the U.S.

Beautiful Post!

I can't help thinking they have a great deal of respect for us regardless of the imbecilic statements made by their politburo. I believe their 2 millenia of conflict with China also coincides with a desire for warmer relations with us.

I haven't served in the military but I felt re-establishing formal relations with Vietnam was one of President Clinton's better initiatives.
