GA Precision GAP-10

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Now you call them and drop $1K then wait... and wait... and wait... It won't be anywhere near as long as most places, but it will feel like forever, lol... Then the magical day comes when Tracy calls you and wants the final payment... then more waiting... then you get the call from your FFL saying "Holy sh!t this is nice... take your time to pick it up... no really..."

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I would agree with Broker there.. I am at two months almost right on the dot.. i initially thought the wait wouldnt be too bad.. you know.. start accumulating some ammo, getting mags, on and on.. but it is starting to kill me :) I can only imagine what some of the folks getting bolt guns go through... i am hoping it is still moderately warm when she arrives soon.. but at the end of the day. i will be out there in the butt ass cold enjoying my new gap10 when it arrives..
and yes. pics will be up as soon as i get her home.. good thing is is live about 20 minutes away from the GAprecision mothership so no waiting on shipment or FFL transfer..

I'm right there with you. Call me a jerk, but I hope I get mine before you! Just a friendly joke (kind of)...

My brass, dies, powder and primers arrived today. I'm READY for that call!

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I couldn't wait for one because I knew I would go nuts. I ended up finding a Gap built ar10 that was unfired a few weeks back. I just got my nightforce on it and will be sighting it in this weekend.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Damn, that rifle length handguard is sexy! That with a 16" barrel would be a sick combination!

I'm fairly certain they're only offering it on the 20-22" models...

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Do they sell the rifle length handguards separate ?

I think we can rest assured George and his smiths know what they are talking about....
What is the fixation on the 6.5x47 out of the AR10 platform? The 6.5CM is going to do anything you want a 6.5 to do and probably do it better with more case capacity, less costs, and better brass availability. I shoot both calibers but prefer the 6.5CM. Now with his newer 6CM you have an efficient 243 stuffed into a gas gun, that is badass!

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Any word if GAP is selling the hunter/sniper tubes? Left an email but haven’t heard back.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Do you guys shoot these things or just fondle them? Where are all the rest of those bitchen 3/8 moa groups?

Mines comin Monday and I have a 6.5CM upper on order.

Beautiful rifle, sir! I got the call for mine yesterday as well. Paid and am awaiting shipment to my FFL. I wish I could just drive down and pick it up.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I got to shoot mine yesterday and let me tell you its a freaking laser ! I wish I could post a picture of the target . The first 5 were in the same hole than she opened up to around 1/2" for the last 5. I shoot the 10 shot group in about 15 seconds . I'm super pumped about the gun I just need the rifle length handguard and she'll be done .

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Anyone know the status on the adjustable gas block for these? Great looking rifles, I enjoy reading the range reports. Makes me reconsider building a rifle myself.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Thanks , yes that's what I meant . I plan on buying a surefire muzzle break and the guys at GAP must have been swamped because I couldn't get through . I've never had a custom gun before and to say I'm happy is a major understatement ! Needless to say GAP has made a customer for life . If they do that with a semi I can't wait to send them one of my bolt guns . I heard about the 3/8's groups but didn't think I'd be able to get that level of accuracy .

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I got my GAP 10 this afternoon. 18" OD Green 1:10 twist w/ PRS and Surefire brake.

I got lucky... when I called a couple weeks ago to order one there was one avaiable. Ken offer it to me instead of building one. I took it....

I took it out of the black Plano style gun case it was shipped in and took pictures. I added the harris for pictures.

Now the break in begins.....

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I got a 20" and it drills. Also in OD green, love the look.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Ken said this was a midlength setup.

It seems long for a midlength to me. That could be the reason why they try to push you away from Rifle Length system with 18" barrels.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Yours looks like the rifle length guard to me. The middy has 14 holes in the handguard vs 17 for the rifle length. You can also see the gas block protruding just slightly from the guard, which is indicative of the new design.

I wouldn't complain at all though, I think it looks better, and the rifle length gas should be great if you're attaching a suppressor to that.

I think eXstasy is correct. I looked back in the thread and counted Kcartwright27's rifle length handguard.

Sorry for any confusion.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

csmith411,

That thing looks awesome! Especially with the rifle length HG. I think that is probably the configuration I will go for (18" bbl with rifle length HG)when I finally get to order one. Congrats!!

Thanks Vette447.

I really think you should order one soon. But if not you can shoot mine. That's only fair since I have got to shoot some of your's.

We need to go shoot after the Thanksgiving and before pistol league starts.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Has anyone used a DD Lite rail on these rifles? will the 762 lite rail work with these uppers?

Also, what about that adjustable block?

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Wow......talk about a thread filled with butt hurt knuckleheads on both sides.

I'm considering a GAP 10 and I was hoping this thread would deliver some good info.

It's not worth filtering through the nonsense to find it.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Not much nonsense in this thread, only one guy who was threatened by the gap 10...
The first several pages are of LL review and very informative.

I can tell you mine outshoots most bolt guns at my range with out any problems at all.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Just ordered one in 6.5CM. I can't wait to get it. Anyone know if the rail or the one piece scope mount have 20moa built in? I could not find the info on their site. Now I need to decide on the scope.

Pretty sure this is the one I fondled at their shop. Nice rifle and I love the look of the long hand guards on the shorter barrel.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

After assimilating far too much gun porn tonight, and after having read every post on this thread - I'm now hopelessly enamored with the idea that my next purchase will most likely be a GAP 10 in .308. Crap - I hate gun running even small ....."improvements" past the wife. After all this time though - I'm going to have to break it gentle to her that this is truly something I "need".

Impressive rifles for those who own one.

If you fondled one that had black Magpul UBR stock on it..... It might have been this one. I had them change out the UBR for a PRS.

Thank You.. I also love the look and feel of having a longer handguard.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Question regarding muzzle brake for Gap-10. I placed my order on Dec 23rd for Gap-10, 18" barrel, rifle length hand guard, PRS stock, titan muzzle brake. I am still undecided on the brake I want. This will be my first semi auto rifle. What separates one brake from another? Is it mainly the "look" you are seeking or does one function better than others? Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks, David M

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I think trying to attribute performance differences between brakes would be splitting hairs. I have a GAP10 and HRT, both with the surefire brakes and both rifles are freak shows performance-wise. I get consistent 3/4-1 MOA out of the GAP10 and consistent 3/8-1/2 out of the HRT at 850 yards.

I wanted to test both of them without the brakes but then thought...why? These things run so good as is I don't even like wiping the dirt off of them. Does the brake play a role? Don't know but I absoutely won't change a thing on either rifle. I have heard other shooters that have watched me shoot comment..."Damn...those rifles don't budge when you shoot them".
