Greatest Post Apocalyptic Movie of all time ?

The original Mad Max Trilogy was pretty unique in that it really captured what the area would be like in the beginning and then a fair bit after an end of civilization breakdown event.

The beginning montage of Omega Man was probably one of the best ever, the rest of the movie was kind of iffy but the beginning was truly epic.

My son’s favorite movie- Love and Monsters. (Yes he’s under 10years old)

Mad Max - Fury Road wasn’t bad . Water town Gas Town and Bullet town .

I include Red Dawn in the genre- of course the original not that piece of fuck remake .

Several invading armies and Nuclear weapons- sounds like an apocalyptic time to me .

The Postman was actually good! Tom petty cameo was great!

Waterworld sucked.

But if waterworld was real, we’d have had a band called Blowfish and Hootie!

Book of Eli was really well done.

If you want a good laugh… Shaun of the Dead and Night of the Comet are excellent spoofs.

But the best post-apocalyptic film of all time in my book is Blade Runner. Though maybe that is more dystopian than post-apocalypse.

Then there is the original “Dawn of the Dead” and “Night of the Living Dead” movies… ;-)

What’s the English or maybe Australian movie a few years ago about the guy alone in the cabin with a small garden and trapping squirrels ?
Then a mother daughter find him - and some raiders come . It was slow , monotonous and desperate- lots of mental trauma nightmares sickness and hunger - and self inflicted abortion.
Probably more realistic if you make it past the first year or so . A slow grind to starvation while your mind breaks and you die .

No love for Heston in Planet of the Apes?
Wish A. American (pin name) ever gets off his ass and moves forward with his movie project about his book series "Going Home". If one is ever made about the book "One Second After" or the "Dark Road" series they would be good as long as they're true to the books.

Great point about One Second After, that would be a great movie, but better if it was a series. Kind of like the FIRST season of Jericho.

Solarbabies, Cherry 2000, City Limits, Cyborg 1 and 2, Radioactive Dreams, Bakshi's Wizards, Death Race 2000, Delicatessen, Johnny Mnemonic, Hell Comes to Frogtown

The original Deathrace 2000 is brilliant!

Stallone's 'breakout' role (along with Lords of Flatbush)

Did you know he was in original movie MASH? Extra sitting at a table...

A bunch of good movies in here. Several I like. If had to pick one, it would be the second "Mad Max," "The Road Warrior."

But definitely cannot forget the original "Planet of the Apes."

I really liked the original "Red Dawn" though it is more of resistance movie than about an actual apocalypse. It's more along the lines of WWIII, possibly.

A good sequel to that would have been to show a few years down the road building enough society to fight off the invaders and take some ass-kicking to their doors.

1. The Road
2. Fury Road
3. The Road Warrior.
Honorable Mention- The Book of Eli.

I'm sure I'm missing a few but those are the ones that have stuck with me. The Road affected me the most. It hits hard.

It's difficult for me to put Fury Road over The Road Warrior as The Road Warrior is what sparked my interest in the post apocalyptic movie genre. But I feel that Fury Road is a better overall movie.

It’s better made.

Fury Road plot has max tied to the front of a car for like half the movie and then the other half are a bunch of dumb cunts in a water truck and what’s her name with grease on her forehead.
