Birch is great for handles, in fact better than a maple or an ash. It has less of a tendency to shatter and it’s light weight and strong. It would be in my top 3 choices for an axe handle.Birch will last 1 swing.

Birch is a hardwood but it might not necessarily be a hard wood. Balsa and basswood are hardwoods. Red cedar, hemlock, and yew are softwoods.Birch will last 1 swing.

I'll take one. What part of the country you in. The Amish makes some good handles. I may have a point of contact. How many would you want and when?I have a line on a huge batch, were talking 800 axes I can pull from. I am working the deal now so I'll let you guys know if it works out.
If anyone has a good source for handles let me know and if it pans out I'll send you a free axe for helping me out. I can get handles here and there but if I bought a big batch of these heads I am going to need a bunch of good handles at a good price. Birch handles are what I am looking for preferably vs hickory.
I'll take it you've never seen Birch before ?Damn, somebody better hop in a time machine and tell the Swedes back in 1943 who made this birch handled axe that it would be broken by the time I owned it in 2022.View attachment 7868571
