Figured since we gotta Bolt rifle and Semi auto picture thread in their respective sections, we ought to have a handgun pic thread to go along with em so..

Carry guns, race guns, hunting guns, old school collectible pieces, etc.. whatever ya got/wanna show off - lets see it! Maybe(hopefully?) if we get enough posts, we can turn this into a sticky..

My custom .500 Smith and Wesson Magnum carry gun shown next to my 1911 for comparison. I built both.

My newest (and sexiest) handguns. Owned a West German P220 a couple years ago and wasn't impressed, but I had always heard about how nice CZs are to shoot. I can't disagree one bit.

Nice. Would you recommend CZ-75 over Browning High Power for a nice handgun for a novice handgun shooter? All my time has been spent on rifles and in so doing Ive neglected my handgun skills outside of a S&W .22 LR revolver... been wanting something like a CZ75, Browning High Power, etc possibly even one of those Springfield EMP4 9x19mm 1911.. something like that. And not that theres anything wrong with em, I just don't like striker fired pistols and their triggers.

I'd definitely recommend a CZ 75. For me, CZs are some of the best feeling handguns made and they point very naturally. They're available at a good price point, right around $400-600 or all the way into the $3000 range depending on which model you get (for example, I paid a hair over $600 for the SP-01 and a hair over $1100 for the Shadow 2, both brand new). You can take your pick from DA/SA with a safety, DA/SA with a decocker, or SAO, whereas the BHP is SAO and that's all you can get. Not to mention CZs some of the best looking DA/SA guns made. I might catch some flak for this, but in my mind, the BHP is like the 1911. They're guns that are cult classics, and while they are still excellent guns, there are newer and better options. Whether you choose a CZ, BHP, or 1911, you've picked a good gun.

But the best thing I can recommend picking a few guns out, handling them in a store and dry firing them, then going out and getting some quality trigger time with each of your options. From there, make the decision based off what you prefer from actually shooting each one, not the opinion of someone on the internet.

I look forward to seeing what you choose!

    Specs/details?

    Hey Coyote,

It is a 2nd Gen Colt SAA. This one is a 'cavalry model' in 45 Colt sporting the 7 1/2 inch barrel, and Indian Stag grips. I have several old Colts, and a few 'clones' of that era. It is definitely interesting to shoot these alongside more modern pistols, and consider that at one time these were standard issue.

No doubt. I'm a huge fan of old wild west history, and we've come such a long way in the past 100 odd years. I'm pretty certain it was a interview of Frank James(outlaw Jesse James' brother) after he got outta prison and was doing the Wild West Circus thing, he was asked how good could the famous Wild West gunslingers really shoot. Frank James replied something along the lines of "You were considered a top marksman if you could reliably/consistently keep all 6 shots within the diameter of a pie plate at 10 yards." The interviewer said that doesn't seem so great now(interview occurred in like 1902) and James supposedly said "It aint great now, but we did the best with what we had back then". Frank James' heyday was 1861-1876 or so, considering he started as a Confederate bushwhacker and mostly stopped his nightriding after the Northfield raid '76.. though he apparently pulled a couple more heists out on into the 1880's before Jesse died... interesting stuff IMO.

Tactical Sport? That's hot. Been wanting one of those myself.

Yup, it's an awesome gun. I went through a phase when I "gunsmithed" it into a jam-o-matic turd but I straightened up my act and its back to being a great blaster.

Actually the cerakote is less than a year old, only one season of 3 gun on it. You should've seen the original finish with 3 seasons on it...

I guess I just baby my guns then... The 34 I posted earlier has been my competition gun for the last few years.

Your 34 looks immaculate. I'm not particularly hard on my guns, certainly not abusive anyways, but somehow finishes don't last very long. Like the shotgun tube in the pic, regular use has eroded quite deeply into it.

The second to last pic - 2011 race gun - whats the details on that one? Also, how are the slide-mounted red dots holding up for you on the Glocks?

    Correct. STI DVC Open.

The red red dots on glocks work awesome for me. The RMR is meant to be tough. I think a well machined slide with a good fit and a quality red dot is good to go in my book. I have thousands of rounds on an RMR on an FNX tac and never had issues.

A friend has a PPQ, which is (as everyone else says) very similar to the Hk VP9... Too close for me to call which I prefer. Other than that, I haven't been too hip on Walther's larger options.

I've shot PPK's and hate them, and I was really eyeballing the PPS M2 for a CCW, but side by side with the CCP, I liked the feel of the CCP better. That said, its construction and machining are not as "bombproof" (You can tell it's made at the different facility). For what it is, it will work...

I have had a few HK pistols and I really wish they'd make a single stack 9x19 CCW. A VP9S or something similar would really trip my trigger.

Is that a Black hawk before the transfer bar? Back in the seventies, we had them and would only load five, never putting a round directly under the hammer! Great pic, brings back memories. Wish I had never got rid of mine, fantastic handgun! The Black Talons aren't bad either! I'm jealous!
