Got it out on the range today, pretty damn slick. I have an HK VP9 and have always really enjoyed it but this thing makes it feel rough by comparison. Very pleasant recoil impulse and sights come right back on target extremely quick. Superb trigger & sights, too.
Here's 17 rounds of WWB 124's at 10 yards standing unsuported. I tried 10 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense after this and the group was a little over half as big as this one.

Guys, here is a 1911 build I just finished. Caspian had a 25% off sale on their Damascus slides last December and I ordered one with Bomar cuts. I received this slide July 2nd, and started building it right away using a Caspian receiver and a .45 ACP Kart supported barrel.
I plan on using this pistol in IDPA and Steel Challenge competition at my local club. To stay IDPA legal for CDP rules, I could not install an extended mag release, so I got a legal one from Wilson.

1990s Gen 1 Kimber I bought new, with 50th Anniversary Milt Sparks IWB Summer Special.

Late 1950s Ruger Flattop .44 mag with 7.5" barrel. One of only 1,000 (IIRC) made before the Super B Hawks arrived.
When my oldest kiddo was 11 she received a matching pair of .45 Colt Ruger Montados for mounted cowboy action shooting. They were then slicked up for her.
Needles to say she was the coolest kid in the neighborhood!
Fast forward a few years and she is rocking the .45s in competion.

The rules that I've browsed said black powder. Large enough grains that they will reach the balloons. Some thin wad or patch to keep it in the case.
It is a very coarse black powder that burns in a conical pattern. The burning powder is what breaks the balloon rather than a projectile. The cartridges are crimped like a shotgun shell. They are designed to fully burn out and not be dangerous at extended ranges. However you could potentially kill or injure a horse pretty easily not to mention yourself with careless handling.
We started the oldest daughter off at an early age shooting .45s and she has done well.
