Look below, I need advice on my clearance. I know this has been discussed a number of times... However, this is a small caliber and I'm hoping to be safe lower than I would usually go. I'd like to get out this afternoon but I wanted some input before I pull the trigger. Not trying to beat a dead horse subject. Variables are just a bit different
I got flustered after buying a new rifle and impulse bought and overnighted these rings by CZ. They seem to have a few different types, some look rebranded and marked up. I just did not have the patience to look further without getting some time to take her out.
These had a label underneath 'made by Czech Republic written in their language. I found it really odd that they use flathead for both the rail and ring caps.
I've decided that my behemoth Sightron in 8-32x56mm will be sitting on top. Normally this would be a little too close for comfort on just about any other rifle. I'm hoping that because its only 17 Hmr and that I'm using steel rings this wont be an issue.
* it does not look like this much clearance in person*
What do you all think is the minimum clearance for his setup? It's a large scope, I just don't want to end up with the dinging sound of fail. It's nowhere even close to fitting the thin rubber cap over the objective.
I can slide the first .025" feeler gauge under without contacting the barrel or scope. I can slide under 3 = .065" if I let them bend touching only the barrel. Adding the fourth gauge contacts and sticks...
I'd like to start shooting this afternoon... What's the verdict???
Sorry for the double post, I added this on to my last thread and haven't received any feedback. I was hoping the straight question could get a faster response.
Thanks again in advance for any help-
