I am working on a Christensen rifle for a friend, trying to shorten the LOP. I'd hate to run into the original owner, as the LOP was 16"!
It looks like a B&C to me and had a Decelerator epoxied on prior to painting the stock, like many are. I sliced in with a knife at the seam of the rubber/plastic plate and was able to remove the outer part of the pad, but the plastic base of it is epoxied into the stock.
What is the standard method of putting a new pad on these, once I cut it, and what is the best way to cut it?
I'm thinking chop saw or table saw to length, and smooth it out and square it up with a fine grit on a vertical belt sander. Do I need to worry about splintering it with those methods?
thanks for any help.
