There seems to be some new players recently, over the "usual suspects":
- 175SMK, 155Scenar, 155SMK(2156)
- RL15, Varget
I would like to know if anyone have got good loads of 175SMK & 178BTHP(Hornady) from these new powers:
- Alliant AR-Comp
- Alliant 2000-MR
- IMR 8208 XBR
This is mainly for a bolt gun, but if something can work with a slight "jump", then an universal load would be preferrable for both a bolt gun and a gas gun (need to load to ~2.810, to make sure max is under 2.820).
I really hope that some of the above can get the 178BTHP close to the performance of Hornady factory's Superformance ammp.
--------------------------------
From my initial research, here are some generalization, please correct me (for real) if you don't agree....
> IMR 8208 do not generate high velocities
> amount of AR-comp used is less than 2000-MR, hence powder will be less compressed (when using long/large 178 bullets)
> both IMR8208 & 2000-MR are very clean
> all 3 of the above are temperature in-sensitive, better than varget, and far better than RL15
