Well after waiting forever I,m puting mine on bench overweekend

First impression solid very slick

Based on another user saying his flexed or whatever
ZERO slop in ram assembly infact i,m so impressed i might even try doing match ammo on it

I expect the 223 and 9mm it cranks will be more than acceptable

Just gotta get powder assm attached and case feeder

Got 400 223 case ready to run...interested to see how long it will take

more later

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I have the pre-LNL (Projector) Served me well for years. Moved to a 650 because (at the time) Hornady didn't offer a casefeed.

All presses flex under the stress of resizing. With better presses it can't be seen or felt. If if can, it's not mounted properly.

Don't expect blazing fast times until you get past the learning curve. Enjoy.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

Firstly the instruction suk donkey dik

Mix of old and new stlye press in same instructions, so you really have to read thru deciding which applies.

Being a typical guy, i just winged it, then had to pull and remount whole rig, case feeder instruction required installation of additional bottom plate.

So i have to actually crank out any ammo, just need to tweak v block etc and i should be good.

Trial runs making adjustments have been very slick and quick thus far, expecting 4-500 223 pert easy

Used 1/2" x 3.5" bolts as bench top is 2" thick...very solid
thou i will still resize separately.

Still have not noticed any SLOP in ram etc...very tight fit

Overall except piss poor instructions....Oustanding

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I didn't think the instructions were that bad, only somewhat confusing; for the most part better than what comes with overseas products.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I'm the only one I know of so far that got one with slop in the ram (Rock Chuckers are a different story)... and I'm still sore that they didn't fix/replace it. Might have been different had there not been such a high demand for them at the time... who knows.

Rub it in, why don't ya? ;-)

Re: Hornady LNL AP

Hornady has some videos that might help with setup and all that. I've been watching them and they cover pretty much everything.

I ordered my LnL from Cabelas last week and they say a delivery date to Cabelas of 6/25. Hopefully mine won't take 3 months.

Do you have any plans to pursue the matter further with Hornady? Talking with the Service Techs may not be the final step. Talking with someone in management, letting them know you're competent in your estimation of the product and that you are dissatisfied, may be productive. Taking the right approach may be the most important factor to your success. Avoid polarizing your and their positions.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I consider the matter closed. I had sent the press to them and got it back with absolutely nothing done to it, so I got rid of it immediately. I guess that it was within their expected tolerance limits...

Next time I will either buy blue or inspect the unit I'm purchasing at the store before taking it home.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I got mine Wednesday, mounted it yesterday and if I get some time tonight I may get to reload some 357SIG. It is a very solid, precision made press and so far I am very happy with it. Mine came with an instructional DVD and I was able to get it mounted and working without having to refer to the instructions. I'm sure I'll get a case feeder for it in the next couple months but all is well so far.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

Ran off 350 223 rounds in about 45mins, including stoppage time to adjust seating die and powder charge etc

Very slick, only issue thus far is case feeder bowl seems to jam up alot. Plate thing in bowl hangs up alot on cases, when it works its flawless.

Mostly thou i have to climb on a chair n free it up, then it will run 15-20 cases n lock up again

Suggestions???

If the cases make it to the feed slot everything there down works flawless, climbin up n down to free up feeder will get old quick thou

HELP!!!

Still besides that issues holy crap its cranks out ammo
Now its all adjusted and if case feeder would work right
600 per hour should be a breeze

Plus side
Powder measure drops were very good, spot checking showed all to be right on money or real close. Must be consistent throw action of using machine linkage. Very impressed

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I just bought a Dillon 550 and its ok but I came from a fully progressive press. Kinda thinkin about gettin rid of the Dillon for the LNL. Played with them at cabelas and seemed smooth.

Thought about the 650 as well since the price is nearly the same but I've heards its pretty finicky.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I am quite pleased with mine, though Kombayotch's experience does not read well for Hornady's customer service. They should have taken care of him.

I have moved almost all of my ammo production to the LNL.
I use my Redding T-7 to f/l size cases and then tumble them but then I run them through the LNL for powder and seating....and crimping for my .223 ammo.

If I feel the need to weigh individual charges I remove the measure and drop a funnel into the empty hole. I pause at the top of the stroke to dump weighed charges. Makes for excellent precision ammo if you ask me.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

Nope door not issue once case leaves feeder, everything down to loaded round dropping in tray works perfect

It cant get cases to door the plate hangs up n jams on cases

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I had a lock n load AP, it worked great but all my buddies were using Dillon so I switched to a 650 with case feeder because it was easier to get help when I needed it. The Hornady was a good press. Now I'm loading on a Dillon 1050.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I like mine. It is sitting beside a Dillon 550 so as time passes I can give a real-world comparison. With the free bullet deal the press really only cost me around $180, delivered. Could not turn that down, even being a Dillon man. I like the Hornady's powder meter over the Dillon's "sliding box" style measure.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

I just set up my case feeder and ran off 200 rnds of 357SIG. It was almost flawless but it failed to feed 1 case. I can live with that.

When I dumped in about 250 cases into the feed hopper and turned it on, the case feed plate would not rotate. What was happening was the metal hub in the center of the plate that engages the drive shaft was loose and was slipping like a clutch. I tightened up the two cap screws on the drive hub and it stopped slipping. It fed fine after that.

Re: Hornady LNL AP

Bro
Even with me finger fukin everything ckin powder throw/OAL etc, i ran off 350 223 in less than an hour

Including unjammin the feeder bowl thingy

So with everything adjusted, case feeder working correctly, brass already prepped sized etc....thou LNL can do this this many have said to do it separate

500-600 hourly rate should be very doable

If ya have never experienced a full auto press.... its just so quick
Powder throw seems very consistent thus far...good enuff for 308 maybe

learning curve is zip if you have any reloading experience

Re: Hornady LNL AP

OK i,m all set
Just one thing i would like to do is install a baffle in powder thrower, have one on hand from RCBS BR

Problem is i cant get damn tube to come off assm, is it glued on??
no biggie if i cant do it

Dropping a 3/8" fender washer in the reservoir will accomplish the same thing. MIght need to diddle it a little to get the powder off when draining the measure.
