Rifle Scopes How close is too close to the barrel?

I'm mounting a Vortex 6-24x50 viper hs-t on a Tikka 223 Varmint. I'm using the DNZ game reaper mounts and I got just enough clearance between the barrel and objective to slide a credit card through. I'm guessing about 0.025". I think it should be ok with heat expansion but I'm not sure if harmonics would be an issue. The closest point where contact might occur is pretty close to the action so the barrel is pretty thick there. Also given it's only a 223 I wouldn't think there'd be a problem harmonics flexing the barrel or the scope. Then again I'm fairly new to centerfire stuff and never like to make assumptions.
Thanks for your time.

If you can slide a business card through that’s enough room for me. The barrel will not flex hardly at all that close to the action.
Thanks that's what I thought. Wasn't sure how much the longer scopes might wiggle. All new territory for me. I normally run them very tight to the barrel on rimfire for cheek weld but the scopes are shorter and there's 0 recoil to contend with.

I saw a slo mo video of a 50bmg firing and the bolted-on rail and scope were bouncing all over the place. Business card is fine for 223 but I allow more space for higher power rounds after seeing that video, and I use integrated rails as well.

no plan for flip covers or a scope cover?
i'd prolly want a little more space if i didn't already have the mount, but i'm no expert on the specific equipment (or anything else ;))

The barrel tapers down and away, there more clearance at the front of the objective. I think the BC flip will fit or I can notch the supplied bikini cap. I've delt with this part before. Also they make lens covers for cameras that will snap into the ID of the objective.

Just some thoughts:
While a low scope to bore mount is generally advocated and preferred, It has been my experience that i often have to accommodate improved or optimized ergonomics in an effort to comfortably and quickly secure a consistent visual picture through the scope. Granted optimizing stock fit characteristics plays much of a role here as well. I've also run into the problem of not being able to fit lens protectors when the scope is mounted too low.
