So I am getting into the long range game a little, and don't want to break the bank. I know I can go out and drop as much as my first 3 (cars) on optics, but lets face it, I'm not made of money, and I am just starting in the long range hobby. My life will not depend on the scope, and I just want to have some fun. Furthermore I can get a great deal (nearly 40-50%) off MSRP through a buddy on a scope.
I know the adage of buy once cry once. But in this case what about whimper once, and then cry later.
Do the Elite 6500 series stack up favorably against Leupold, Vortex, Burris XTR's, Sightron SIII's, etc. I don't need to drop the coin on Kahles, S&B, or USO right now. Thanks for any advice. Information from personal experience with a 6500 would be great.
