Gunsmithing HSS & Carbide tooling grinder

Re: HSS & Carbide tooling grinder

Too bad you aren't closer. I could hook you up.

I have both styles that you listed and use the bench type more. Mostly for touch ups.

Check ebay.

I have one of these but unfortunately I let a friend use it to grind a Mauser and he let the action climb under the wheel giving it a nice 5 thousandths runout.

It's useless for sharpening now, but was pretty versatile and half the cost of the surface grinder you are considering.

Re: HSS & Carbide tooling grinder

I have both of the grinders you posted. I use them both. A diamond on the bench model is a must. The wheels they come with might as well be made out of chalk.....a diamond wakes it up. An Aloris type tool holder mounted to the mag chuck on the surface grinder allows a ton of grinding options and killer finish.
