It's a sickness many years ago my wife conceived a name for, to make the story short we have to understand that all women are sound minded and when she made the statement , if it wasnt good enough why did you by it ? I slipped back into that dark place. She negated the fact that $$$$$$$ was the problem at that time . The last 2 weeks a flood of empty hulls piled up on the front porch while daily I assaulted steel and paper from 50 to 330 yds everytime I picked up the gun or guns she would say ,I thought you already had that sighted in. Finally it happened I told her it wasnt close enough !!!! I found myself gazing into the brite screen this morning plotting a profile on a Nosler 40gr. BT, jumping on my PC to enter points and create a I'd profile program to make a female tensioner. FOR WHAT !!!! I thought the gun already shoots good ! Yes it is a sickness.

I'm gonna try wiping the neck when setting the bullet tension instead of crimping. ???? Theroy set bullet deeper into lands larger slower powder charge. Get a good ignition with .0005 total circumference retention calculated .0008 total clearance for case expansion. Problem #1 shell cycled into and out of the chamber ok single feeding only ,but the lands only contacted the odgive by about .01 maybe, maybe not enough ? It's a starting place I'll turn more tomorrow then fire for a fps and ed then work from there.

Female tensioner? I already got one.

Its good that you have alot of time on your hands.

Wow what a day I feel like I've been in a watch shop ! Turning pre made bullets is a task, certainly! I know I heard someone in Arkansas holler from the 1st 3 I shot! I'll just be blunt 16" twist ain't the ticket unless its 2000 fps and I didn't see that ! Pic below shows 3 holes couple you could put a castle key in.

The 1st load at 1.5 grs ACC7 never saw paper at 842 the 2nd load at 2.0 grs hit low left at 1115 the 3rd hit right at 2.5 grs. 1278 fps

The smaller hole was at 3.0 grs hit close to where I was aiming 1443 fps the 4th shot was a duplicate 1443 and hit in the same hole no apparent rim swelling or the firing pin indent being pushed out so pressure was good sounded like my 17hmr Anny though.

I did jerk the Razor off and mounted my 5-25 Eagle on the gun incase of a accident 🤔 but nothing blew up last 2 pics are of the rifle with a internal helix brake that I tried a ton of different durometer orings on to tune the harmonics . Waiting on a fast twist blank. The 1pc. Scope mount I built is precision wire cut the rail and ring saddles were all cut after machineing.

Glad to see results. Wish they were better. Even more glad that you're willing, able, and planning to pursue it further.
I'll be watching with interest.

It's a standard rimx action a proof 18" stainless barrel with a trigger tech Diamond at 4oz. After 200 rounds I tore it apart re cut the taper on barrel .100 smaller from the 1.200 to muzzle. I indexed the barrel to 12 o clock and bedded it in the grayboe ridgeback stock it has a 30 moa rail the 1 PC. 34mm mono block scope saddle has 20 moa wire cut in for a total of 50 put the Harris bipod on fitted the v brake called it ready. The scope now is a Vortex ffp eagle 5-25 in MOA.

Rimdenter, have you checked the projectile overall length against the twist ratio?

Yes I have the reason I ordered a 11-10 from Bartlien it will be almost center of this twist ratio.

So I've grown tired of waiting on a barrel , so I dug into my barrel bag. Wa La Black hole .224 hence a .224 rimfire 1" OD. though . 1st task make a reduction adapter RIMX TENON to Bastard .748 x 20 UNF3 . Fitted barrel in reduced cut shoulder to 1.6854 cut chamber for odgive .010 in.
Heel turned 55 FMJ Hornady bullets they are wiped swaged in brass waiting on a nice day now.

We got her Flying! Today ! and somthin else for the nay sayers! The 1st load was light bullet liked 1" coming out end of barrel!🤔 2nd round flew at get this 675 fps clean hole no tumble. 3rd round 1277 woe! MAMA just a dab will do ya! These are heel turned 55 gr fmj hornady bullets, brass looked good so we proceeded ,cut the throttle a little had 1075 fps o can affirm this loading big brass is a breeze! I did get one group under .750 at 50 yds with a Sd of 23 it was luck. There is a new scale on the way to measure .o1 grains .1 wont cut it you'll see in photo. This is a .224 3 groove black hole AR-15 barrel I precision machined chamber to engage the lands with a .75 deg lead bullet .010 in. The bullets are heel turned to .210 their wiped swaged .001 in the 1st photo you see the bullet in port of rifle.

In this photo you'll see 3 groups I wanted to do a little test the group with the pink line is the 55 fmj bullets I varied the powder charge .1 or 1 tenth of a grain 1st shot on bottom 1023 fps 2nd up 1064 3rd up from bottom 1107 4th up 1157 very top 1203 fps 4 tenths of a gr. variation made the bullet climb just over 4" ! @ 50 yds now you see why I need a better scale 🤔. The 5 real black holes above center bull are midas they didnt like my .224 fast twist bore! The little .612 group up top was SK HV MATCH in a .224 bore well there goes the wore out barrel theroy. And to back that up heres 10 shots I flung pretty fast at 220 yds with the SK HV match out of a over bore gun just over 4" 😃 and ta think we worry about barrel wear !🤣 That's my IRON BISON in the photo that got his head pounded!

A tenth of a gr. Avgs. 43 fps difference so to get it to a SD of 4-7 I need every round to be within .01 grs. on powder charge this might be tuff possibly a little slower powder.

Had to go back and edit my post it's a 3 groove Black hole .224 barrel single digit twist!

Oh my were getting close kinda like Vudoo what I'm doing is a dirty word in the precision world!🤣

DUPLEX POWDER load. That small a load demands some really precise measuring. Which powders pray tell.

1st off let me explain I dont reccomend people doing this, unless you fully understand the chemical makeup of controlled accelerants such as plasterized gun cotton. I settled on a 1-8 ratio the hotter powder being the smaller ratio and kept altering it on the top end of the slower powder till my ES hit 9 in 5 shots with a SD of 1.8 now I will say the 1st low shot was lack of good cheek pressure the other 4 had a vertical spread on .045 with the one left at .127 ! I tinker with stuff like this because of my fathers back ground, he was a propulsion chemist for Areo Jet General in California thur the 50s and early 60s helping develope the boosters for Apollo 12. He was laid off from there when the work was complete and we returned to Texas where he went to work at Morton Thiokol formulating the engine propellants for Stinger and Side Winder Missiles. He would teach me and my other 2 brothers everything he knew it has come in handy over the years. POWDERS WERE AA7 and LIL GUN I will not post amounts though. Velocities were low 1085 high 1094

ES of 9 and SD 1.8? WOW! Not shabby at all.
