Got some good trigger time in today, helping my little bro (15) work on getting his newly inherited BSA 4-16x40 Mildot sighted in on his Mark II-F, and recording/confirming clicks for my new Mueller APT and Velocitors out to 150. Also had a chance to try Wolf MT ammo out for accuracy, and found that my rifle likes them even better than it does CCI standard velocity.

Thanks to those of you on here that have recommended this stuff!

Shooting was done from the bench @ 50 yards, bipod and rear sandbags. Unaltered Savage Mark II-FV, Mueller APT 4.5-14x40mm, Millet AngleLock rings, factor bases.

The following is the best of three, five-shot groups fired using this round.

Suffice to say, my introduction was a pleasant one.

Also, thanks to Lowlight for his videos on YouTube on trigger control/manipulation and breathing; I'm no novice but I've been doing it wrong. Past several range sessions have been spent over-hauling my trigger control and breathing...and I've already noticed a big (15-20%...?) difference in my group sizes.

PS: Scope is tracking and returning to zero beautifully after a fairly thorough workout.

Nice group! My 10/22 loves wolf and SK. And oddly enough, Remington subsonics shoot almost as well. It has become my practice ammo of choice, although i get a flier here and there that mess up a good group but i can deal with it. I also have the Mueller APT and its a great scope for the money!

Re: I discover Wolf MT.

Sk is the same as Wolf ...

And I agree on the Rem Subs - my Savage Mk II BTV actually gives a slightly better group with them over Wolf...

You may want to also try Fiocchi subs ...

I think the only advantage I've seen w/ Wolf vs. Rem or Fiocchi subs is that flyers are a little less frequent and when they happen they aren't as far out of the group...

Maybe but all of my 22 like SK better.FWIW

Re: I discover Wolf MT.

I've tried A Remington sub, but perhaps it was not the same one you are referring to...? It was a 38g HP, I believe. Shot like crap. 1.5 inch group @ 50 yards was rare. Not saying Remington never made a good load, but I've yet to have good experiences with any Remington rimfire ammo. Few more specs on the Remmy sub? Willing to try anything, even though I have negative biases towards Remmy rimfire ammo.

I'll keep an eye out for the Fiocchi subs and give 'em a try.

Re: I discover Wolf MT.

My Sako does not mind the Wolf/Sk but I absolutely hate the shit ton of lube on the ammo that gets all over me while loading mags. My Quad really liked the Eley Std/Target ammo and that is not as greasy as the wolf and I like the primer burn smell better too. I wish the Eley wasn't so hard to come by locally.

No doubt about that. My friend's Annie will shoot Winchester T22's far better than almost any other ammo, another friend's Ruger 77/22 loves Remington subs, and my Sav Mark II will hardly put two shots from either in the same zip code (OK, maybe a slight stretcher there for emphasis...). Bottom line is always, "Try 'em all and see what works.", 'eh?

Hmmmmm...guess I'm always too grubby to notice little things like a little extra grease on a round. And too smelly myself to overly bothered by the primer smell. At any rate, I'll put up with a lot for that kind of accuracy.
