The Hollywood image of sword fighting is total fantasy. Historically sword fights were over in seconds. Trying to parry will get you killed. A clean strike ends it as fast as a bullet. It's all about speed and connecting with the first strike.

Randomly went through YouTube and there was another video of his .mil background. Yeah...didn’t want to watch because I’ve seen to many good specialist get out after their initial term

You're right he definitely doesn't know about sight offset or he would be compensating for it and showing he knows how to hit his mark at close range. Iaido is another form/discipline that is worth pursuing if you have the chance. I only took instruction for about year, before my work/travel schedule became too hectic to continue. It was an interesting discipline, and you often had no idea how fast, accurate and correct your form was, until someone would take video and show you afterwards. I still have my boken somewhere in the house...
