I just wanted to start a thread ……..

You only have to look at Australia to see what cops will do. Removing people from their homes for non-compliance on Covid rules, shooting dogs (ok, well, they already do that here)... Most cops are good.. until those orders come down. This is human nature, Stanford Experiment, while extreme, does show this.

Nazi Germany.... how many of those people were basically good... until those orders came down. 6 million Jews murdered.. by people that used to be mostly good.

No you’re the one who doesn’t have a clue you drama queen. Most registered sex offenders are the there for indecent exposure. Sorry to burst your tiny bubble.
That is such a fucking ridiculous assertion, please show me your empirical data to back that statement up.

Just checked the Texas Sexual registry databasee... There are 919 different codes for some sort of charge of "Exposure".
The database has 140,022 registered offenders, and 14,898 of them are registered for an Exposure charge.

A first conviction of indecent exposure does not mean you get on the sex offender list.
you have to have a previous conviction, so the likely-hood of someone "accidently; exposing him or herself is very slim.

Texas
Sec. 21.08. INDECENT EXPOSURE. (a) A person commits an offense if he exposes his anus or any part of his genitals with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person, and he is reckless about whether another is present who will be offended or alarmed by his act.
(b) An offense under this section is a Class B misdemeanor.

In order to be placed in the Texas Sex Offender Database, you must have a reportable violation:

(5) "Reportable conviction or adjudication" means a conviction or adjudication, including an adjudication of delinquent conduct or a deferred adjudication, that, regardless of the pendency of an appeal, is a conviction for or an adjudication for or based on:
(A) a violation of Section 21.02 (Continuous sexual abuse of young child or children), 21.09 (Bestiality), 21.11 (Indecency with a child), 22.011 (Sexual assault), 22.021 (Aggravated sexual assault), or 25.02 (Prohibited sexual conduct), Penal Code;
(B) a violation of Section 43.04 (Aggravated promotion of prostitution), 43.05 (Compelling prostitution), 43.25 (Sexual performance by a child), or 43.26 (Possession or promotion of child pornography), Penal Code;
(B-1) a violation of Section 43.02 (Prostitution), Penal Code, if the offense is punishable under Subsection (c-1)(2) of that section;
(C) a violation of Section 20.04(a)(4) (Aggravated kidnapping), Penal Code, if the actor committed the offense or engaged in the conduct with intent to violate or abuse the victim sexually;
(D) a violation of Section 30.02 (Burglary), Penal Code, if the offense or conduct is punishable under Subsection (d) of that section and the actor committed the offense or engaged in the conduct with intent to commit a felony listed in Paragraph (A) or (C);
(E) a violation of Section 20.02 (Unlawful restraint), 20.03 (Kidnapping), or 20.04 (Aggravated kidnapping), Penal Code, if, as applicable:
(i) the judgment in the case contains an affirmative finding under Article 42.015; or
(ii) the order in the hearing or the papers in the case contain an affirmative finding that the victim or intended victim was younger than 17 years of age;
(F) the second violation of Section 21.08 (Indecent exposure), Penal Code, but not if the second violation results in a deferred adjudication;
(G) an attempt, conspiracy, or solicitation, as defined by Chapter 15, Penal Code, to commit an offense or engage in conduct listed in Paragraph (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (K), or (L);
(H) a violation of the laws of another state, federal law, the laws of a foreign country, or the Uniform Code of Military Justice for or based on the violation of an offense containing elements that are substantially similar to the elements of an offense listed under Paragraph (A), (B), (B-1), (C), (D), (E), (G), (J), (K), or (L), but not if the violation results in a deferred adjudication;
(I) the second violation of the laws of another state, federal law, the laws of a foreign country, or the Uniform Code of Military Justice for or based on the violation of an offense containing elements that are substantially similar to the elements of the offense of indecent exposure, but not if the second violation results in a deferred adjudication;
(J) a violation of Section 33.021 (Online solicitation of a minor), Penal Code;
(K) a violation of Section 20A.02(a)(3), (4), (7), or (8) (Trafficking of persons), Penal Code; or
(L) a violation of Section 20A.03 (Continuous trafficking of persons), Penal Code, if the offense is based partly or wholly on conduct that constitutes an offense under Section 20A.02(a)(3), (4), (7), or (8) of that code.

Examples of grooming behavior may include:

  • giving gifts or special attention to a child or young person, or their parent or carer, making the child or young person feel special and/or indebted to an adult
  • making close physical contact sexual, such as inappropriate tickling and wrestling/play fighting
  • openly or pretending to accidentally expose the victim to nudity, sexual material and sexual acts (this in itself is classified as child sexual abuse but can also be a precursor to physical sexual assault)
  • controlling a child or young person through threats, force or use of authority making the child or young person fearful to report unwanted behaviour.

My grandma used to say, "30 minutes of learning is better than 3 minutes of knowing everything"

What did I learn? There was and still is a problem with things like consensual sex among teens. And these are typically a parrent pressing charges. The laws are getting better in this regard.

The vast majority of crimes however, are actually the horrific things being described by the LEO, so not drama.

I can't get behind your logic. Using the most extreme examples that don't have direct relationships and hypotheticals of worst case scenarios is the talk of extremists. You can't find facts to support your beliefs and debate, only argue.

Not trying to slam you, we all have valid fears of government overreach. But please, we are not in Nazi Germany, and there hasn't been any talk of police breaking into homes over Covid.

I was quoting facts... including a study of human nature. I'm just saying what happens when things do go bad.. people just follow orders.
You don't like references to extreme examples, but that exactly when human nature kicks in and self preservation takes over.

There is no spoon.... and there are no facts.
What there is are things that can be referenced so people can determine their validity.

Making a statement like "Removing people from their homes for non-compliance on Covid rules" is a big pile of fear mongering with nothing to substantiate it.

When, where, how many, what circumstances, who said, what is the other side of the story.

Police have shot dogs, therefore all police will shoot all dogs is not logic, it is propaganda.

Damn you are a f'ing idiot....

* About one in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. About one in seven girls and one in 25 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18.
* 70% of child sex offenders have between one and 9 victims, while 20% have 10 to 40 victims.
* Only about a third of child sexual abuse incidents/cases are identified, and even fewer are reported.

No idea what the majority of sex-offenders did, but I have retired homicide detective friend who never arrested anyone for breaking and entering.
If you would have read my earlier post, I have been arresting pedophiles and rescuing child victims for 10 years. Its all I do, so I have an idea of who is getting popped for this shit....

some people are just insufferable to be around

he was clearly in the right and you were clearly in the wrong

instead of moving like a professional would

you resort to name calling and sex offender accusations

it's no mystery based on conduct like this why people have the opinions that they do in this thread based on similar extreme unprofessionalism like you display
He was clearly in the right reporting bad information, huh? "No you’re the one who doesn’t have a clue you drama queen. Most registered sex offenders are the there for indecent exposure. Sorry to burst your tiny bubble."

Damn you are a f'ing idiot. Pretty sure you are a registered sex offender and pissed off you got caught meeting a 13 year old for sex...

Might want to dial that second sentence back. The accusation of pedophilia and damaging someone's character on false accusations is actually grounds for defamation of character. Unless you feel you have solid proof of his abuse.

Fixed for you. People don't get how big of a problem this is nationwide and I am a bit passionate about it. My little task force in a small area just got 15 leads from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in just the past week.....

You know that homicide detectives don't investigate burglaries and criminal trespass, right?
If I'm not mistaken, they investigate homicides, hence the title homicide detective.
If I missed the sarcasm font, sorry.

I was afraid that might fly over your head.

You did and no sweat. The person I was responding to is part of a unit that specializes in pedophiles (if I understood him correctly). I'm sure he doesn't deal with drunk guys pissing behind the bushes anymore more than my detective pal manned DUI checkpoints.

Is this valid, I wonder who will be responsible for enforcing it?

First it is "considerations" from the CDC perspective in the context of "humanitarian settings as outlined in guidance documents focused on camps, displaced populations and low-resource settings"

It is talking about how doctors without boarders could deal with covid at a refugee camp or for organizers of a homeless shelter.

Second all it says is if you are sick, you should isolate and even says what to do in a home:
"Household (HH) Level:

A specific room/area designated for high-risk individuals who are physically isolated from other HH members"

This is why you need to give references, so your conclusions can be reviewed and challenged. If you had good point, I would be swayed. This is how you change my mind, or in this case hopefully your own.

The places that Doctors Without Borders operate seldom if ever have houses and if they do they are most likely mud huts………

Your deductive skills are without parallel.

...and they probably do not rent them out to boarders. This thread is bordering on stupidity.

Well, I guess I will fan the flames. But I am quite sincere.

I believe we, as citizens, should treat every LEO we meet as “on our side” unless and until you have reason to believe otherwise. The reason is simple: I want them to remember that not every citizen is an asshole or criminal.

I am not saying anything other than if we, as citizens, hold them ALL in question and paint them All as the opposition, then don’t be surprised when the treat us All as criminals.

Note that I am keenly aware of history, and that when the “ballon goes up” everyone will have to choose a side. But despite current events, and lots of stupid crap all over the county, WE ARE NOT AT THAT POINT RIGHT NOW.

So let’s continue this fight amongst ourselves, and fully air out the obvious, and unfortunate, discrepancies on all sides. But let us not pretend that we are at the point of picking sides just yet.

I do know this: I feel damn sorry for every law enforcement officer in this country. The past 18 months have made their jobs suck, and I amazed they still go to work every day.

Rant over. Resume the debate.

Admittedly I've only watched half of this. When I first heard defund the police I was immediately against it. And I still am for the most part. First thought that went through my mind was oh you just think it's bad now. Cut their money and see what happens.

But what if we cut the money they spend on crap local le doesn't really need, I mean, does my local pd really need an mrap. I saw state police pull up to heb (local grocery store) in an Oshkosh. Is that necessary? Militarization of our police forces is a mistake in my opinion. These are local guys here to serve the people of their states and communities. They're not meant to be a military force.

What if we just reallocate some of that money they spend on cool gear to better training. Or just some training in general. I know three people personally that went into le. The gun training they described to me sounded about like what I took to qualify for my chl. Not enough to carry a gun for a living if you ask me.

My uncle, while not in le himself, has a lot of cop friends. One of them was telling him how an officer had responded to a domestic dispute or a break in or something and the cop and the perp each dumped 15 rounds at one another across a king size mattress and neither one of them hit what they were shooting at lol.

Let's teach them how to shoot before we outfit them with with all the latest and greatest.
