He's got an example of every stinkin' convertible Chevrolet ever made. Every one, and even dupes. Evidently, this was his way of dealing with childhood disappointment:

At least he shows good taste by stating his favorite is the 69 Yenko Camaro. Though you think he could have posed for the press photo in a more interesting car than he did though.

I agree with you, but what I find amazing is that I know few people who have 147 of anything tangible and of interest to a collector, let alone anything so large or expensive. Hell, I know few people who own that many firearms, and even fewer who have that many of any one kind of thing, even 1911s. This guy just about gives Jay Leno a run for his money.

It's called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. That's not collecting. Collecting is obtaining items and trading them, or selling them off for other items. It's not about having ALL of everything in that category.

I know someone just like him, but it is with Native American artifacts. He can never have enough, and he is on a 'High' when he wants something, but on a 'Low' about a week after he gets it. The fellow I know will not think twice about spending $40k on a 'one of a kind' item.

The person that would give Jay a run for his money is John O'Quinn before he died. I have seen that part of that collection. By far the most impressive car collection I have ever seen. It would give most car museums a run for it's money. Crazy thing that the cars are stored in warehouses that you would never think of what's inside. I pass one of his warehouses all the time and never knew what the hell was inside of them.

But to have 147 Chebbies, is impressive in it's own right.

John Menard owner of Menards chain of stores has one of those inconspicuous warehouses... Chock full of indy cars, ferrari's, a McLaren F1, and a whole bunch of rare classics.
I shit myself when I got to look inside! I used to live down the street, and never could've imagined what was inside!

Re: I like Chevies too, but, like, HOLY CRAP!

So, somebody tell me what the point is of buying up all those wheels that are rarely seen, almost never displayed, and probably never driven? Just so someone else can't have it?
