Imported carbon fiber tripod (RT90C)

I have the Arctise AS90C, a 52mm from Arctise, and the exact same 52mm from Innorel. Upon receiving the first of these I was very pleased with the smoothness of the movement and its constant and predictable clutching. Long story short I put these levers on one night and alas, they really work well. I've used them for all sorts of things; rifles (from 9# to 22#, 270 and 338LMAI), cameras, rangefinders, and even a table top. Here's a photo showing "too tight" on the left and "too loose" on the right. The arc is around 300* no need for a full revolution which makes them very fast and simple to operate.

Do these ball heads hold the rifle in place yet allow movement sans your lever, @338LMAI ?

Here's some photos that show my 22# 338 LMAI holding, but still able to move without touching the lever. Note that I've chose to use the rearward Swiss Arca plate thus gaining a more equal balance. IMG_7716.JPGIMG_7717.JPGThe first two are my 9# 270 with the lever; the last photo shows the big gun before the lever was installed. It works the same it's just easier with the lever.IMG_7716.JPGIMG_7717.JPGIMG_7595.JPG

Now I see your most recent post. The Anvil 30 will work the same as I've used a friend's RRS gear. The advantage--main for me--is the Anvil's ability to latch onto either a Swiss Arca plate or the Picatinny rail and it's all levers to begin with. But it's three times as much too...

Here’s the pictures of the Matton tripod I purchased. The Leofoto leveling base didn’t work with the stock bowl on the new unit, but it did work with my old PVA Tripod. The RRS leveling base works O.K. In the Matton tripod with the stock Matton bowl (without the RRS bowl), but not as RRS designed. The leveling base gets into the tripod before it would normally bottom out. I’m waiting for my Arca clamp to show up, but I can already tell that I will be upgrading it to something with a quick throw lever. My initial impression is that these Matton legs would work fine with something like a 52mm ball head. They have metallic lock collars, and very similar (appearing) carbon to the PVA. The PVA has a very distinct advantage with the removable bowl. In short, my plan didn’t work out 100%, however I will make it work with what I have for the time being. More pictures to come.

A couple pictures for comparison. This shows the clearance issues with the ta-3.

Found a leofoto 52mm ball head. It’s not even in the same ballpark as the leveling bases when I put it on the Matton, hence the lack of pictures. Going forward, I robbed the clamp off the Ballhead for more testing. The leofoto 75mm leveling base/PVA legs offer the same stability as the RRS TA-3/Matton legs. I don’t get a perfect lockup with the leofoto 75 like I do with the RRS, but it’s darn close. I like the ergonomics of the leofoto over the RRS for multiple reasons. For one, the tension mechanism is easier to reach and manipulate at all times. Secondly, when you pan left and right with the RRS the tension will get tighter, or looser. Not the case with the leofoto. Lastly the leofoto offers a little more clearance between the magazine and legs without being “ “ball head height”. I won’t know for certain until I take them out in the field, but all things considered, I think both setups will work fine for night hunting as they sit.

I just upgraded my Innorel RT90C to an Anvil30. Thanks @midwestoffroad for the plate. For those looking for a slightly cheaper solution, I have my TA-U-LB that I used for the past year. It interlocks with the Innorel RT90C plate using the 2 set screws on the aluminum plate, and the little set screw on the RRS Leveling Base. It's a great solution versus having things counter-pan loose.

I put it up on the PX for those interested - https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/wts-rrs-ta-u-lb-leveling-base.7044676/#post-9071508

This the one branded: roadwi on Amazon with Matton on the pictures? Should fit the Anvil with @midwestoffroad plate.

Could someone get the dimensions of these areas on a RT90C?

The Midwest adapter doesn't fit the roadwi/Matton. Bowl is too small.

RT90 pictures

Correct the adapter doesn't work with a integrated bowl.

MWO’s adapter is great! I blue loctited & torqued my RT90C legs as they were too tight from the factory. Tightened to 45 in/lbs but may have to up to 50 in/lbs with more use. Now they easily collapsible but don’t collapse on their own. I also adjusted the locknut as it was hitting the tripod at full lock and I couldn’t get my finger in to unlock it.

Can I attach a pig saddle directly to the bowl adapter while I save up for the Anvil or a ballhead? Im worried there would be no range of movement.

I'm basically going to get a AS90c for free, I have 250 bucks in amazon gift cards, so my question is has anyone ever broken one of these or the RT90 tripod, I can afford the full RRS setup, but I shoot USPSA more now with my Infinity pistol, and only want a tripod for spotting and occasional shooting from, so if you broke one in any way please let us know

Once upon a time someone pulled a leg out but was able to fix it.

No more than I shoot off a tripod it's hard to justify a bunch of money

It seems tripods are used more for rear support than shooting from these days at the comps I'm attending. Many comps don't have a "tripod" stage anymore. So guys, and gals, are finding other uses. The rear support works really well once you get the feel.

No the 80 has a integrated leveling base. . I could make a adapter for the flat top insert . But not really going to do much other than let the anvil sit higher and utilize the taper

I typically use mine for glass duty and if allowed rear support since a few of the local matches essentially wrote them out with rules changes.

That's exactly what I'm seeing. Which sucks because I like and am good and enjoy shooting off tripod. It's a fantastic platform to shoot from. Standing, kneeling, sitting down, and prone if you have the right tripod.

I’m interested in two of the RT90C / Anvil 30 adapters. Any idea when you’ll be spinning more up?

I'll have to get more material ordered. But I could probably get 1 this week from what I have on hand .

It was about 2 weeks on material deliveries back in November .

I finally bit the bullet and got on the tripod bandwagon. The one I purchased was the Innorel LT364C ($280 on Amazon). Carbon fiber, largest leg diameter 36mm, four section legs(would rather have had three section). This one's rated at 77lbs and is tall enough for me (I'm 6'3"). I haven't weighed it yet to see what the weight is using the 75mm bowl adapter (included) and Arca/RRS clamp (not included). Seems to be substantially sturdier than my Manfrotto setup, but I haven't had it to the range yet. The bowl adapter holds my AR10 much more stable than the Benro ballhead I was using. Range report to follow at first opportunity.

Well after having a rt90 for about 6months and not having used it other than in the basement, I think I'm going to part with mine. I never even considered taking it with me hunting because of its size. Gonna go for something smaller.

How do you guys like the as80c?

can i get 1st dibs? let me kno if u decide to move it!
It's listed in the PX. I tried a leveling base with pan and a clamp. It did make for a solid platform for my spotting scope. I actually stacked the leveling base with the one that came with it to look at jupiter and saturn this summer. Add them together and I had 30⁰ I could look up lol

I’ve got this one that I’m planning on hunting with. I like it so far.

I've taken the as80c hunting. It's very stable for glass but I'd personally still want a dedicated hunting tripod. Something lighter and more compact.
