Gents,

I'm currently working on a 250 Savage 40 Degree Ackley Improved. It's on a Montana 1999 action with a Pac-Nor heavy fluted barrel and is ready to go except for stocking and bedding. I'll be pushing JLK 108 grain VLD's. I'm expecting about 2,900 FPS with the 108 if all goes well. If not, I'll open it up to 25 Souper...

Why is it that there doesn't seem to be much love for the 25 caliber? Not enough bullet weight or ?

This started as a "fun" project last year and will probably be used as a live varmint/range rifle. Expecting great things from the little rascal.

Wes

Gents,

JLK does make a nice 108 grain VLD projectile. I have 400 of them just waiting to be put down the .250 AI! Once it's done I'll report back. I'll report back once I get the puppy stocked and bedded. I'm expecting great things out of the Pac-Nor tube and rifle.

Wes

P.S. I did wait six months to get the bullets, however. Guess I'll have to march to a different drummer on this subject...;-)

I shoot a Model 70 Featherweight in 257 Roberts. Its my go to deer and antelope rifle, Its never failed me. Excellent, accurate, light weight hunting rifle.

My only problem is getting to use it, my son and granddaughter are fighting over it and I had to move to my Featherweight in 270 Win. Which I think is over kill for deer/antelope animals. I might have to buy another one, or maybe two more.

I do a lot of shooting with a .250 savage bolt gun. I shoot flat base 87 and 100 g softpoints. very soft shooting rifle, great for deer. I consider its practical range on whitetail to be around 200 yds for these projectiles.
