Without the sanctions regime that kept the Comies in power, Cuban Comies would have been washed away in 1991-93 , it happened everywhere except two countries under the most severe sanctions regime Norks and Cuba where succesive US admins keep the players in power trough sheer stupidity . I don't know why folks in positions of power don't get it that you can cripple a country but Regimes actually grow stronger under sanctions than in absence of them . There is no single case of sanctions working but shit load of cases where regimes stay in place decades under sanctions.
The reason for that is quite simple as Countries inevitably adapt to sanctions the elites take over the black and gray market of getting goods past sanctions, converting currency, handling remittances etc they literally tap into every pocket,way beyond what they could in the absence .

I was under the impression around 100 Alabama air national guard pilots volunteered. Their mission being taking out the T-33’s and B-26 cuba had, which ended up reaping havoc on the invasion force.
