Issues with Chargemaster (maybe)

I've been noticing that my Chargemaster's scale takes a second or two to find the weight. For example tonight I was throwing 45.0 grains. I usually bump the pan after its done throwing to make sure it comes back up to 45.0 grains, but sometimes it will hit 44.8, then a second later 44.9, then one more second later 45.0. I lost the counterweights to my balance beam scale, so I dont have another scale at the moment to verify accuracy. I do let the scale warm up a bit, calibrate it and throw a few test loads before I start a string of loads.
Does anyone else's CM1500 do this, or should I have RCBS take a look at it?

This is normal especially when the scale is reading fluctuations. Once it has settled it should then beep or trickle in more.

Im talking about after it beeps and completes the charge. I'll bump it, then it will take time getting back to the expected weight. It just worries me a bit.

You tapping it is putting the scale off.

So it gets back to the weight it originaly had, but just takes time getting there?

I would not worry.

If you could see the scales I have at work that go up to 5 decimel places. 0.00001, and they constantly fluctuate up and down depending on wind, farts, electricity, doors opening, me getting off my chair etc.

Dont let it worry you.

It would worry me if it didnt return to the reading it had before you tapped on the pan.

OK. I figured with how quickly it measures the powder dropping into the pan, it wouldnt take that long to come back to its original weight.

Mine acts the same way if I accidently bump it before I take the pan off the scale. IMO, no biggie.

Bumping it because your not confident of it's accuracy? Mine does the same. As long as it's warmed up, calibrated, and zeroed go with it. Just don't "bump it" anymore. All your doing is disturbing the load cells and loading fewer rounds.

Remember the game operation?

+1 on the no bumping.

I had problems with my Chargemaster throwing increasingly lighter charges and sent it back to them with a check for $45 and they sent me a brand new unit in 5 days. Go to their website for more info.

Also note, they are VERY sensitive. If you are throwing charges and seating bullets on the same bench, the vibration of the bullet seating can screw up your charges.

I wouldn't "bump" it. If you need to recheck, lift the pan straight up and reset it on the scale. It will take a couple of seconds to reweigh. That's normal.

If I bump mine I will check it with one of the check weights. Sometimes I just recalibrate it. It is very sensitive though,and does take a second or to to stabilize.

Don't beat on it. If you are really concerned about it's accuracy find the cal weights and check it. It is a precision
instrument, though it should be calibrated from time to time.. If you doubt it check against another scale.

I have trained the Mr's well... either one of us will operate the chargemaster, whilst watching for overcharges, and pouring into cases.
The other will seat projectiles. Both are on seperate benches and thankfully my Forster Ultraseater has some decent seating action which isnt too abrubt.

I think I know what you mean it's almost like it's computing the desired load setting and then stops when it's figured out what it was supposed to be. I don't pay it much attention as long as the the little plastic pan always weighs the same I don't monkey with it.

Ok, I just wanted to be sure. I keep my Chargemaster on a shelf above my bench, so it sees little vibration from my loading bench. Unless Im in a hurry, I usually load 50 cartridges at a time before I start seating bullets.
However, I did send RCBS an email off their website about a week ago and I havent received anything back from them yet. Is this typical?
