Laid up... for now

Well, I'm laying in a hospital bed with a new C5-C6 arthroplasty (sp?), about 6 hours out of surgery. I have made the walk down the hall with the folks from PT and have enjoyed a bland meal. I awoke to no more numbness or radiating pain down my dominant arm and have high hopes for tomorrow & the next day. I wanted to be able to play with my youngest son and finish the last 9 or so years left before my pension is set. I got this injury from an on-duty incident and have been taken care of. I hope to be back in shooting shape in a month or so. The Doc says that I'll be ready for light duty in two weeks. Modern medical science is a wonder.

Glad you're recovering GuardDog!

In order to avoid any setbacks I'd avoid any stressful or nauseating activities like watching the Saints or talking about the Saints, or thinking about the Saints!

Get well soon man and thanks for the ribald and clever de-moto posts!

Re: Laid up... for now

On the bright side, while your resting, you will keep us all happy and entertained with the Motovation posters that you are so good with. Prayers sent Hoss, I hope your back to fighting shape real soon.

Re: Laid up... for now

Thank you all for the words of encouragement.

Although, QQ's shots fired at my beloved Saints will only fuel the rivalry when they spar with his Bucs this Fall. Hopefully, there won't be any embarrassing losses to Tampa this season.

Glad to hear you are doing well!Isn't it amazing how the doctors can put us back togather now?!My left leg could have been stuffed into a gallon Ziplock bag(well almost)and they pieced that mess togather.

The day shift nurses for the most part are slim, but the night shift crew had a couple heifers that you woulda been all over. I was tempted to snap some pictures for you as they walked away, but they control my pain relief, so I didn't want to get them mad.

Tap one in my honor. Take one for the Shankster. Hell, you can even blame it on the pills..win/win.

Re: Laid up... for now

I made it home just after noon and finally got some rest. Those night shift gals kept me up and not for the reasons that Shank had hoped for. The relief from removing the herniated disc is immense. Thanks again for all the support.

Re: Laid up... for now

A couple weeks since getting cut are behind me and life has definitely improved. I understand that everyone responds to treatment differently, but if anyone out there is in the boat that I was in, this procedure has given me a new lease on life.

Pretty, huh?

Re: Laid up... for now

Yeah, thanks. I got to hold a GAP rifle for the first time today at my favorite local gun shop. I had to shoulder it, but there was still a little too much stiffness to get a good check weld. But I can still do my dry firing practice and LRSS.
