I currently have a Leupold VXIIc 6-18 scope with a 4" lense shade. I am getting ready to order a Gap 10 in 6.5CM soon. Is this enough scope for the gun? I'm already scrounging money together to buy the gun and another 1k-2k on glass is doable, but didn't know if necessary.

Thanks

Lead time on the GAP-10 is 10 months, so your looking at Jan 2015. Gives you plenty of time to research other glass alternatives. If at that time the VX-II is all you have, use it.

If you are buying a ready built, then again, use what you have and see if it is for you. There may be other scopes more appropriate for that platform, but only you can answer that. IMHO I feel many shooters over mag their scopes.

If $1-2k is doable then you should buy a quality optic with the desired features. A temporary scope is one thing but to just stick a scope on the rifle for good that will hinder performance doesn't make much sense.

Definitely not looking to hinder performance. Just didn't know if it would perform well enough. I just have it on a .223 right now. I can sell it pretty easily.
