A shooting buddy who maintains the catch-cable at Volk Field AFB invited me to watch the jets take off this morning. Was maybe 50 yards from the runway to see F-16s, 18s, 35s. So impressive to see this, and so refreshing to meet and talk to a few of the guys on the ground, a sharp contrast to the morons, political and otherwise, as seen on tv.

Volk must be doing a pretty big exercise with that kind of variety in aerospace vehicles. The F-35 is a strange looking machine when viewed from the side, really deep fuselage.
